Stay at this romantic bolthole in the beautiful Eden Valley. Admire stunning views, explore the many tracks and walking routes and enjoy a peaceful break in this converted farmhouse.

Set in the idyllic Even Valley, we defy you not to be captivated by this converted barn. Built in local red Lazonby sandstone, Geltsdale is located just over a mile outside the picturesque village of Kirkoswald. It's a charming two-bedroom reverse-level cottage that makes the most of the views and original features. Stunning views over the Renwick Fells and an enormous garden to the side and rear of the property make this a popular cottage for return visitors. The barn is one of four delightful holiday cottages at this former 18th-century farm, surrounded by views of the Eden Valley that stretch as far as the eye can see. The cottage is dog friendly (and what a location to walk the dog!).

The local village shop is just a 4-minute drive away (or 25 minutes if you wish to walk), where there are also two great local pubs - be sure to book if you want to eat at either, as they are popular with both visitors and locals alike!

As you pull into the old farmyard, parking is available to your left and additional parking is available in the wooden barn. This is a reverse-level cottage, so the two bedrooms are on the ground floor as you enter. Both are tastefully decorated with painted white wooden panels and exposed stone walls; one containing a double bed and the other a single. There is plenty of storage room in both, with wardrobes, chests-of-drawers/dressing tables and plenty of storage under the beds. The single room also has an under-stairs cupboard for storing suitcases and bags. The single room has views to the front and fields beyond and the double room has views over the gardens towards the Renwick Fells. The bathroom is also on the ground floor and features a powerful walk-in electric shower, WC and heated towel rail.

Climbing the stairs to the first floor, you'll find yourself in the centre of an open-plan living room and kitchen. To the right (in the kitchen area) are a small dining table and kitchen worktops. A microwave, electric oven, LPG hob and under-the-counter fridge can all be found here; while a larger freezer, washing machine, clothes airers and tumble dryer are located in the reception area for all cottage residents to make use of. Views from the kitchen overlook the cobbled courtyard and fields beyond.

The living room area (to the left of the stairs) contains a comfy two-seater sofa and armchair, coffee table and Smart TV with a Blu-ray player (there are DVDs and books in the reception area for guests to browse). The living room is flooded with natural light from a skylight above, but the real treat is the view to the rear. Here you will be able to see much of the lawned gardens, which are shared by guests of the other three cottages.

Even more of the bordered gardens are revealed from the courtyard entrance and you'll notice the two picnic tables. A smaller table with two chairs can be found in the planted 'butterfly' garden and a wooden gazebo beyond that. There is a BBQ in a walled garden to the front of the cottages alongside another picnic table. The lovely gardens are shared with the other cottages on site but there are plentiful quiet corners with seating for a morning coffee or evening glass of wine or just to enjoy the views and the birdsong. This cottage can be let alongside three other cottages on site sleeping four, two and six, should you require more space for a larger group. Parking is available in the old farmyard as you pull into the complex and the nearest pub, shop and other amenities are 1.5 miles from here.
