Set in the idyllic Even Valley, I defy you not to be captivated by Geltsdale. Built in local red Lazonby sandstone, Geltsdale is located just over a mile outside the picturesque village of Kirkoswald. Geltsdale is a charming two-bedroom reverse accommodation cottage that makes the most of the views and original features. Stunning views over the Renwick Fells and an enormous garden to the side and rear of the property make this a popular cottage for return visitors.
Geltsdale is a barn conversion and one of four delightful holiday cottages at Howscales, formerly an 18th century farm, the other cottages being Inglewood, Ravendale and Hazelrigg. Set on their own land, the cottages are surrounded by views of the Eden Valley that stretch as far as the eye can see. The cottage is dog friendly (and what a location to walk the dog!).
The cottage is located away from a quiet lane leading from Kirkoswald to the famous Hartside Cafe. The local village shop is just four minutes’ drive away (or 25 minutes’ if you wish to walk), where there are also local pubs: The Fetherston Arms (or Fethers, as it’s warmly referred to by the locals) and The Crown. Be sure to book if you want to eat at either, as they are popular with both visitors and locals alike!
