Fantastic location for walking around Blencathra, and a short hop across to Ullswater, our favourite lake, takes about 15 mins. Keswick, where you need to go for shops, is 15 mins away. The hamlet has a homely pub a few yards away that does standard pub fayre. Out of the way which is just how we liked it. Perfect for dog owners. If you want hi tech, LED lights and all the gadgets look elsewhere, this is as advertised, an old cottage in which to relax. If you want a cosy nook to get away from it all it's perfect. Smart TV and good WI-FI are a nod to the outside world. We loved it.

We had a wonderful week staying at Gate Cottage. Waking up on our first morning to rainbows and a red squirrel on the garden was a fabulous start! Lovely walks from the door, welcoming cozy pub with hearty grub a short stroll away and a great cottage to curl up and read in made it hard to go far. We did have a great time at Go Ape in Grizedale Forest doing the sundowner adventure though. Very wet, very dark but lots of fun! Very happy to come back to Gate Cottage though, and carry on working our way through the exception welcome goodies! Thanks for a great holiday.
