A wonderful cottage full of potential and fabulous for enjoying being part of the nature around you. Could do with comfortable seating as the lounge furniture although it looks it, is not comfortable or easy to relax on after a day walking . Gardens and walks from the door are great, but gardens could be spectacular (wasp nest in shed may cause an issue later in the summer). Beds really comfortable and plenty of room for relaxing away from others if needed. Very disappointed that covid shortens the stay with late check in and early check out and the extra time given for cleaning appears a tick box exercise as cleaning was only OK. However all in all a lovely break in a wonderful spot, in a great property, hopefully we'll be back again in future.

Hi Angela, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay, it's a lovely place for a relaxing break isn't it? You couldn't have chosen a better location if you enjoy getting out for some good walks.
I really appreciate your feedback and suggestions for improvement, thank you. I'll make sure we look into everything you've highlighted.
I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

Fabulous holiday over a very sunny half term. We loved the private, secluded location of the house and being able to walk to Bassenthwaite Lake from the garden. Great base to explore Keswick, Buttermere and surrounding area. House was great for our big family. Kitchen was well equipped and bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely. Would be even better (a 10) if the side sun room was usable, utility was in a better state and if the garden was tidied up. Fridge and washing machine need some fixing. Tip: Bins are emptied Tuesday so put bags out Monday (not Weds as the instructions say).

Despite the weather’s best efforts, we have just returned from a fabulous week at Garden Cottage. The house is lovely, perfectly located with a gorgeous garden that leads directly into woods and a walk down to Bassenthwaite Lake or to the Lord’s Seat the other way. It is also minutes from Keswick so if you run out of something it’s only a short drive to the local shops. It is lovely and warm and the large light lounge was a great place for the family to spread out, watch films, play games and do Lego. The house is well appointed with everything you need in the kitchen and a large selection of books and DVDs that would appeal to children and adults alike. We didn’t experience any issues with the hot water, just using common sense and not all using showers at the same time. The only hiccup was with the Wi-fi which was down during our visit which turned out to be an issue with BT. That said, the owners and Sally’s Cottages did their best to resolve it. Fortunately we could use our own Wi-fi although it wouldn’t have bothered me anyway as it was nice to completely switch off! We will definitely return.
