Property code: SZ202

Simple but stylish ground floor accommodation on the edge of the Lake District National Park, lovingly updated with step-free access, wide doors and spacious rooms to offer increased accessibility.

This cottage offers welcoming accommodation for up to four people. The accommodation is all laid out on the ground floor and has been designed to be suitable for wheelchairs. Inside you'll find a great open-plan living/dining/kitchen area, two spacious bedrooms and a large wet room-style bathroom. The cottage also has parking for one-two cars and a little patio area off the master bedroom.

Located close to the hamlet of Calder Bridge on a working farm, from its elevated position this property offers amazing views over fields towards the Irish Sea and the historic site of Sellafield in the distance. At The Beacon Museum in the coastal town of Whitehaven you can learn more about the site's pioneering role in energy production. Whilst in Whitehaven, why not enjoy a stroll along the harbour before treating yourselves to some fish and chips? A must during a trip to the seaside!

With the beautiful valleys of Eskdale and Wasdale within easy reach, there's plenty of choice for longer days out. Visit magnificent Wastwater, the deepest of all the lakes, or head to St Begas church in Eskdale where you can learn all about the history of the local area. Enjoy a ride on the picturesque Eskdale and Ravenglass steam railway, visit the historic (and reputedly haunted) Muncaster Castle or enjoy a day at nearby Drigg beach. Take a scenic drive to remote Ennerdale Water, the most westerly of the lakes, and enjoy a peaceful picnic in beautiful surroundings.

This cottage is a spacious, ground floor apartment for four people. The accommodation has been designed to be wheelchair friendly, with a wet room, spacious open-plan living and wider doorways and hallway.

The open plan living/dining/kitchen area is a great social space. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge, washing machine and there's a useful dishwasher so there'll be no need to fight over who has to do the washing up! Gather round the wooden dining table to enjoy your hearty home-cooked meals, the ideal place to swap stories on the day's events. The two seater sofas are positioned in front of the television, perfect for relaxing evenings in.

Along the spacious hallway you'll find the two bedrooms and bathroom. Both the bedrooms are light, bright and airy. The larger bedroom has a superking bed, which can be made up as twins upon request. This room also has a useful wardrobe and French doors that open on to a pleasant little patio area. These French doors also allow for ramp access in and out of the cottage. The second bedroom is just as lovely as the first and also has plenty of storage with a matching wardrobe and chest of drawers.

The spacious bathroom has a WC, washbasin and large wet room-style, walk-in shower. The bathroom also has handy additional grab rails by the WC and washbasin.

As well as the patio area, the cottage also has parking for one-two cars in the parking area next to the cottage (the parking area is shared with neighbouring properties but there is plenty of space).

This cottage is located on a working farm and therefore there will be the associated comings and goings of a farmyard, including machinery and livestock.

Booked the cottage for my elderly mother-in-law who has limited mobility. The layout and equipment provided worked really well and made a huge difference to the holiday, particularly the wet room. The location was ideal and a very peaceful setting. We visited the Ravenglass railway and Muncaster Castle, and Keswick was less than an hour away. The accommodation was lovely - very warm and welcoming with everything we needed. My mum is a wheelchair user and had no problems getting around. The apartment is in a rural location (although only a few minutes from the main road), which meant that it was lovely and peaceful and quiet - and the cows greeting us at the cattle grid every time we camRead moree and went gave us a giggle. Well adapted property with good size doors and very comfy beds and seating. It would be useful to check with your mobile phone supplier if they have coverage in the area as we had 3 phones which had limited signal.
