Whisk family and friends away for an escape to the Lake District in a bright, fresh, cosy cottage inviting you to relax and unwind in a tranquil environment.

This cottage is situated in the quiet village of Braithwaite, nestled beneath the Coledale Fells and has been refurbished to a high standard to provide comfortable self-catering accommodation for six people.

There are three bedrooms: two king-size bedrooms and a bunk bedroom with adult sized bunks, all decorated in a fresh modern style with luxurious Egyptian cotton bedding. There is a comfortable sitting room with a wood burner and a modern kitchen.

There are superb walks from the door, whether you fancy tackling the huge Coledale Horseshoe or just a simple stroll along the valley floor in Newlands Valley. Whinlatter Forest offers some of the best mountain biking in the Lake District with specially designed routes through the mountain forest taking you into the heart of the forest to open fellside. Braithwaite benefits from two good local pubs and a hotel all serving food for every taste.

The kitchen and dining area are open plan with newly fitted units. The kitchen has a Belfast sink, undercounter fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer, electric oven and gas hob. The dining area has table and chairs and a wood burner (initial supply of fuel provided). The separate sitting room is spacious and light with comfortable seating, a TV and DVD, Bose docking station and a wood burner.

Stairs lead to the first-floor bedrooms. The two king-size bedrooms have built-in hanging space and drawers. The bunk room has adult-sized bunks. The bedrooms are comfortably furnished with sumptuous Eygptian cotton bedding. There is a contemporary bathroom with a freestanding roll-top bath, separate rainhead corner shower, WC and heated towel rail.

Outside at the rear of the cottage, there is a covered walkway and a separate outhouse with WC. There is a rear patio with table and chairs and an enclosed lawned garden. There is ample unrestricted roadside parking and at weekends you can park at the local primary school for a small donation.

Although the cottage was nice & clean & in a great location, we didnt feel it warranted a 4 star. The ad needs to show the garden border fences are quite low & it wouldnt be suitable for larger dogs. The garden is also not very private. Some of the kitchen cupboard doors werent fitted properly & some of the kickboards were pushed in. We feel it wasRead more a 3 star property. Hide

First time staying at Foresters Cottage although have stayed in Braithwaite many times. No heating on when we arrived about 6.30 pm so it took a while to heat up. Disappointing start to an otherwise enjoyable break. Comfortable and well-equipped cottage in a great location. Lovely garden which would be great in Summer months.

A very well appointed, spacious and comfortable cottage; tastefully decorated and good quality equipment provided. Good sized garden for chucking a ball around for the dog. Perfect location for a variety of walks to suit all, with nearby dog friendly pubs. We enjoyed an excellent week there and would definitely recommend it and hope to return some Read moretime. Hide

Lovely cottage, in a great village. Would have appreciated towels to be provided, but that's the only negative. Been here a number of times before, booked for 2 weeks next summer, but now getting pricey at over 2200 for the start of July, so will look at other options

We really loved our stay at the cottage. It was very comfortable, with plenty of room to relax, have a cosy nights sleep after an energetic day out, with the garden big enough for the children and adults to enjoy as well as the dogs. Would definitely stay again if possible.

Well-maintained and very clean cottage in a beautiful, quiet location. We were impressed by the range of games and entertainment for all ages (including TV streaming services) for days when Lake District weather is not as kind as it was during our stay.
