Pairing traditional design elements with a contemporary style, this Grade II listed property has been lovingly modernised to provide the perfect base for a stay in Bowness-on-Windermere.

A very warm welcome. Dating back to 1751, this property is a charming two-bedroom Grade II-listed cottage, enjoying an enviable location in Bowness-on-Windermere. Renovated throughout, the cottage is a wonderful retreat for up to four people and two lucky dogs. On the ground floor you'll find the stylish kitchen-diner and lovely living room with its wood burning stove. Upstairs on the first floor are the two gorgeous bedrooms and the family bathroom. Outside, the cottage has a delightful garden and driveway parking for up to two cars - both a rare bonus for a cottage in this location.

Bowness is a vibrant village, less than a 10-minute walk away from Lake Windermere you're perfectly positioned for a day at, in or on the water! Pack a picnic and enjoy a lakeside stroll, the well prepared can wild swim, hire a boat or let someone else do the hard work and hitch a ride on the popular launch for a cruise around the lake. The village also has a great selection of shops and lots of different eateries to try out and there are some fantastic walking opportunities on offer from the door too. Walk up to Orrest Head Viewpoint and admire the view or take on a section of The Dales Way footpath.

Why not head north to Keswick, the adventure capital of the North Lakes? Sign up for an activity with one of the local adventure companies - try ghyll scrambling, canyoning or raft building on beautiful Derwentwater. The magnificent Langdale Valley is certainly worth a visit. With its rugged mountains and peaceful tarns, it's a must for any avid fell walker. Head up Lingmoor Fell for stunning, panoramic views of the lakes. Stop off at one of the traditional pubs on your way back for a hearty meal and refreshing drink.

Head inside and you're sure to feel right at home.

The beautiful kitchen/diner is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, all important kettle, toaster and handy microwave. There's even a dishwasher so there'll be no need to fight over who has to do the washing up! The wooden dining table is positioned by the window, giving a pleasant outlook over the garden. Next up is the fantastic living room: light, bright and airy but still wonderfully cosy and inviting, it really is the heart of this home from home. In here you'll find plenty of clues to the cottage's history from the beautiful wooden panelling to the original beam and slate floor. The stylish seating is perfectly positioned in front of the wood burner, perfect for cosy evenings in. There's a smart TV in here for entertainment, or why not catch up on the day's events or plan tomorrow's adventures whilst relaxing in beautiful surroundings?

Upstairs on the first floor are the two beautiful bedrooms. The master is spacious yet cosy, thanks to its lovely cottage-style latch windows. With a super-king bed (which can be made up as a twin upon request) and wall-mounted TV, why not indulge in a long lie in - you are on holiday after all! The second bedroom is just as lovely as the first; a bright twin room (which can be made up as a superking upon request), with beautiful latch windows and feature wooden beams. There's also a wall-mounted TV and useful chest of drawers for storage. You'll also find an inviting armchair tucked into a corner on the landing, the perfect spot to escape to with a good book.

Also on the first floor is the family bathroom. Sleek and stylish, there's a WC, washbasin and bath with shower over, ideal whether you prefer a relaxing soak in the tub or a refreshing shower.

As well as driveway parking for 1-2 cars, to the front of the cottage is a delightful garden area. With wooden benches, lawn and cottage-garden flowers, it's a lovely spot to sit and unlace your boots after a day out on the fells! Nine stone steps lead up from the lawn to the raised patio area to the side of the cottage. With outdoor furniture, this pleasant patio area is perfect for dining al fresco; equally suited to a peaceful morning cuppa and an evening aperitif.

A beautiful, traditional cottage in a lovely location - close to all the amenities but in a quiet area. Lovely cottage, well placed for amenities in Bowness. We had a problem with the boiler whilst we were there but we managed to fix it ourselves. It was reasonably well supplied for our arrival and ideal for dog owners. We found taxis in the area rather unreliable so worth noting if you need one but that's nothing to do with the cottage itself.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fold Head House. It is a beautiful cottage and felt like a home from home. Location was perfect and although we had bad weather for our trip the cottage more than made up for it with its cosy log burner and inviting interiors. We would definitely recommend. Thank you.
