Field Head House is a stunning period property set amid the magnificent scenery of the Graythwaite Estate. Boasting modern fittings in a characterful and elegant home it sleeps up to six people in four gorgeous bedrooms and has beautiful socialising spaces to spread out. It's ideal for two small families as the sleeping accommodation is divided between two "wings" each with a king-size and a single bedroom. Added to which, two of the bedrooms, the kitchen, dining and living rooms are on the ground floor so would suit up to three guests with limited mobility.
On arrival at the property, guests enter to the side of the house into the utility room which has plenty of space for all your outdoor coats and boots. There's also a large fridge and freezer in here with plenty of space for your party's groceries. From here you enter the bright, modern kitchen. It's very well equipped with a built-in fan oven, an eye height combi/microwave oven, five counter-top ceramic hobs, dishwasher, under-counter washing machine and a modern breakfast table for a morning cuppa or for sociable food preparation. Beyond here lies the wonderfully opulent dining room. With richly coloured walls and fabrics, a large oval dining table and antique dresser you start to get the feeling for the heritage of the cottage. It has dual aspect windows, one of which has a glorious view across Graythwaite's magnificent grounds.
The first of two living rooms lies just off the dining room and main hallway. This is a gorgeous comfortable snug with a deep two seater sofa and two armchairs arranged around a wood-burning stove and Smart TV with DVD player. There's also a charming high window seat from which you can perch and watch the birds coming and going from the garden. Onwards to the first two bedrooms, the first of which is a characterful gem with a romantic "half tester" king-size bed, a large walk-in dressing room and four windows taking in the glorious views. The second is a charming single room with an antique dressing table and a lovely view over the terrace and gardens. This side of the house has a huge family bathroom with a Victorian-style white suite and shower attachment on the bath as well as a further shower room with modern suite and mixer shower.
The main hallway marks the divide between the two wings of the house, it's a welcoming space with intriguing historic portraits and delightful antiques. The heavy double front door leads out from here to the parking area and gardens. Also off the main hallway is the elegant main living room. It has an open fire, a handsome Grandfather clock, a writing desk and a wonderfully elevated position with several windows looking over the rolling parkland of the estate. The room has two lovely chesterfield style sofas, a comfy armchair and some lovely occasional seating arranged around the fireplace. It's a wonderful room for an evening's socialising, perfect for discussing your plans for making the most of Lakeland. From the main hallway guests descend a staircase to the lower ground floor to the second accommodation wing.
The main bedroom has a super-king size bed with an antique headboard, an ornate wardrobe and dresser for storage and a lovely dressing table. There's a wide window for taking in the glorious view of the grounds, as well as a garden-view picture window which is perfect for watching the visiting birdlife with a morning cuppa in bed! The single bedroom in this wing is another delightful space with a corner wardrobe and a dresser for storage as well as a small window nook which is perfect for little ones to curl up with a book. In this wing there is also a bathroom with shower attachment.
Outside the house there are lovely mature gardens with stone staircases with plenty of nooks to explore and a soundtrack of birdsong . To the front there is a large gravel parking area and terrace for outdoor dining while to the side there is a sloping lawn and pond for further interest. Pour yourself an evening glass of wine and find your favourite spot to enjoy it in the peace and tranquillity of the Graythwaite Estate. Just a mile away at Home Farm is the swimming pool and use of a games room as well as the shop. You can stroll through the grounds of the estate to reach these or jump in the car to take the road around the outside.
