Walking enthusiasts will enjoy High Rigg, Helvellyn and the quiet Thirlmere fells. You'll find fantastic mountain biking around the nearby quarry at Threlkeld with routes to Ullswater and over the Helvellyn range.
The King’s Head at Thirlspot is a pleasant 30 minute walk away, serving excellent pub food and local ale. Dale Head Hall at the head of Thirlmere has an AA rosette for food, the setting is just right for a romantic treat. Further afield Keswick is within a 5 minute drive and offers plenty of choice when it comes to restaurants, pubs and tea rooms.
Fellside Barn is well placed to visit the nearby town of Keswick and village of Grasmere, both of which are well served by the local bus service. Keswick offers a wide variety of places to eat and drink, shopping and outdoor activities, whilst Grasmere is a picture perfect village with strong literary connections, as the home of Wordsworth.
