The private grounds at Far Moor End extend to 22 acres, featuring 15 acres of woodland, two paddocks, a wildflower meadow and three ponds. The property has a long frontage on the River Ehen, a Special Area of Conservation. Ennerdale Lake is a short walk from the house and the private grounds are visited by a wide variety of local wildlife.
Ennerdale is a remote, tranquil valley offering rock climbing, superb mountain hikes and interesting low level walks. There is direct pedestrian access to the fells and mountains from the door, family friendly cycle tracks in the valley and more challenging routes for mountain bikers. Fishing is available on the lake by permit.
Ennerdale Bridge is a short walk away and has two good pubs serving food. Further afield, the Georgian town of Cockermouth and Georgian port of Whitehaven both have supermarkets and pleasant town centres to look round. Keswick is a popular town for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts and is within a 30 minute drive from Far Moor End.
