Eskholme Lodge is a lovely detached cottage with bay windows and beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The house is set at the entrance to Eskdale Estate which means you have access to 1700 acres of partially landscaped grounds, woodlands and lakes, running down to the River Esk at the bottom of the valley, with an 18 hole golf course too.
There are hundreds of walks right from the front door, including Muncaster Fell which takes you over the Eskdale valley to the village of Eskdale itself. Or why not take the little scenic steam railway which takes you through beautiful countryside from Ravenglass to Eskdale.
The little village of Ravenglass is only a mile and a half away and has two pubs, as well as the Pennington Arms Hotel which has a bar serving good food. Ravenglass is the only bit of coastline to be included in the Lake District National Park. The sunsets here are lovely.
Muncaster Castle is less than half a mile from Eskholme Lodge and has fabulous wild gardens (the bluebells and rhododendrons in Spring are fantastic) as well as the Castle itself which is open to look round.
