- We are a group of walkers and this is our second year in a row booking this cottage in January. It is a great location for both high and low level walks. There are two pubs with food within a few minutes walk in Boot and a third The Woolpack a pleasant half hour walk away along a beautiful riverside track but will pick up and drop off in minibus if requested. Lots of bedrooms in Esk View, 2 of which ensuite. We had an issue with lack of hot water for 2 days but once reported this was resolved apparently remotely.
Although the info pack on arrival mentions provision of basics ie tea/coffee there was nothing other than salt and cider vinegar. I have rented many other cottages and usually there is some sort of welcome pack ie tea , coffee, milk which would have been nice. So advice to other renters would be to bring everything including cooking oil, salt, pepper esp if you intend to do any sort of catering. The nearest shop is some distance away. Also tea towels and bin bags as they only provide 2.
The house is large and during a very wet January week, we had wet weather gear draped over every available radiator as the conservatory does not afford any drying. A little blow heater and hangers in the little porch at the end of the hall would be useful. However there are 2 real fires which were very comforting after many hours in the rain.
I can't fault Sally Cottages staff who were always lovely to deal with
