A real home from home, Eleanor's Escape is a cosy cottage for four people and one lucky dog. The welcoming living-dining room comes complete with wood burner and stunning views towards Helvellyn. The well equipped kitchen is at the rear of the cottage and has views up Glenridding Dodd. Upstairs are the two bedrooms, a spacious king size master bedroom and a cosy twin room, along with the family bathroom. As well as private parking for one car, there is an outdoor seating area to the front of the cottage and a lockable store for bikes, perfect for those who prefer to explore by pedal power.
Enjoying a remote, elevated position on the edge of the charming village of Glenridding and surrounded by such magnificent scenery, there's certainly plenty to see and do straight from the front door. A climb up mighty Helvellyn is a must for the serious fell walker, with Striding Edge an option for the well prepared. The intriguing Greenside Mine on the slopes gives clues to the area's industrial heritage. For lower level adventures walk along the shore of Ullswater or explore the woods surrounding the magnificent Aira Force waterfall. After all that exercise you'll be in need of some refreshment! The Travellers Rest is just round the corner from Eleanor's Escape, offering hearty meals in a friendly atmosphere. Or try the Rambler's Bar at the Inn on the Lake and The Beckside Bar at the Glenridding Hotel.
Why not venture to Pooley Bridge, at the eastern end of Ullswater? Stock up on souvenirs and enjoy a pitstop of coffee and homemade cake at one the independent cafes. Spend a day exploring the wealth of walking and cycling routes on offer at nearby Lowther Castle, now just an intriguing facade, there's also a fantastic outdoor adventure playground that children will love. Head to the bustling market town of Keswick, less than a 30 minute drive away, for a great choice of independent and outdoor shops. Take in a film at the cinema or enjoy a performance at the renowned Theatre by the Lake.
