- Peaceful retreat in elegant Victorian home. It was a pleasure to have such an enjoyable stay in a home which has been able to retain it’s connection with a time in history but it offers a sense of homeliness too.
There’s everything you could possibly need for a break from washing machine to dishwasher. Microwave, good oven and toaster, fridge and freezer and all important WiFi.
For such high (Victorian) ceilings it was surprisingly well heated - arrived on a cool day and opened door to warm cosy house.
The family bathroom has a huge bath with plenty hot water bliss! But has option of shower if prefer.
Modern en suite to master bedroom best of both worlds.
So peacefully set in beautiful lakes garden with wood to one side and added security of electric gate entry - private and tucked away from the world but so close to Bowness-On-Windermere. Used local taxi service a few times - excellent service and can’t speak highly enough of Westmorland Inn for good food and gin!
On the doorstep for lovely drives out to Ambleside (fantastic garden centre excellent for brunch/lunch and more like a mini shopping centre) Windermere, Keswick, Buttermere to name a few.
Didn’t use the lakes ferry this time but would have been very easy to do so even despite current restrictions you just have to book on line. If you want to get in at the Wild Boar (just a mile up the road) best advice is to book well in advance we found to our dismay fully booked till end of October.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at East Cleabarrow and would have no hesitation in booking again.

Hi Heather, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm so pleased you had a wonderful holiday. It's the perfect place for a relaxing break isn't it? The location is ideal for heading out exploring, it sounds like you managed to fit quite a lot in!
I hope you can plan a return visit soon - make sure you book the Wild Boar before you come!
