Dower House Cottage is located in the grounds of Wray Castle with a peaceful country house atmosphere. It is approached by a long private drive and set in a stunning position on the western side of Lake Windermere. The cottage is a mid 19th century country property and is attached to the Dower House Guest House. Lake access is via woodland footpaths and daytime mooring is available on the National Trust jetty, from which you can also catch the Windermere steamer cruises, which alllows you to explore Windermere or visit Ambleside without taking your car.
The clematis covered terrace along the length of the property offers a wonderful position to sit outside. You can enjoy the cover of the veranda whilst appreciating the beautiful grounds and magnificent views over the fells and the lake. This magnificent panorama from the house and grounds includes the major peaks of Coniston Old Man, Great Gable and The Langdale Pikes amongst others. The large lawned and shrub gardens are frequently visited by deer, rabbits and many wild birds.
Five people can be comfortably accommodated in two bedrooms. Evening meals can provided in the guest house by prior arrangement.
The scenic locations of Hawkshead village, Tarn Hows and Ambleside town are only a short drive away.
