From the South

If travelling from the South under normal weather conditions guests can approach via Windermere over Kirkstone Pass. In wintry conditions it is worth checking before travelling whether the Pass is open. If it is closed follow the directions from the North.
Take Junction 36 from the M6 and follow the A590 (A591) signposted for Barrow and Windermere
Continue on this road for roughly 15 miles (it will become the A591) until the roundabout for the A592 signposted for Kirkstone Pass and Ullswater
Take the third exit and continue on this road for 8.5 miles
Turn off at the Brotherswater Inn and drive down through the car park past various buildings and down through the camp-site
Continue on the concrete farm drive across two fields - Hartsop Hall is now right in front of you, with Dovedale being the part to the left, as you face it. At the end of the concrete drive follow the farm track around to the rear of the building and into the parking area in the yard

From the North

Take Junction 40 from the M6 and take the A66 signposted for Keswick for just under one mile
At the roundabout take the second exit onto the A592 signposted for Ullswater and Stainton
Follow this road for 15 miles until you reach the Brotherswater Inn
Turn off at the pub and drive down through the car park past various buildings and down through the camp-site
