General description
Derwent Cottage Mews is a delightful first floor apartment for two people in the popular Lakeland village of Portinscale. With spacious, characterful accommodation which has been well thought through the owners have provided a wonderfully comfortable base from which to explore this lovely area. Once forming part of the stable block of the adjoining Victorian house, Derwent Cottage Mews retains lots of its historical character while having all the more modern amenities you'd hope for from your holiday cottage.

On arrival at the house guests enter directly from the designated parking area. The front door leads to a light airy entrance hall with plenty of space for coats and muddy boots. The staircase to all of the accommodation leads up from here.

The open plan living area has a lovely comfortable feel about it with its exposed beams, large window and door, sociable layout and electric flame effect stove for chilly evenings. There is a sofa and armchair, television with Freeview, DVD player and stereo. The owners have thoughtfully provided a selection of disks, books and maps for guests to enjoy during their stay. The kitchen and dining areas are well equipped with dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer, raised double oven and halogen hobs. From this room guests can access the staircase leading down to the lovely shared gardens.

Moving through to the bedroom guests will find a delightful light space with a super-kingsize bed which can be made up as twin beds should you prefer. There is a wardrobe, dressing table and drawers for storage and glorious elevated views of the grounds and surrounding fells from the window. The en-suite bathroom is spacious and has a full-size bath with over-bath mixer shower.

Going down the external stone staircase to the shared grounds guests will find wonderful mature gardens with thoughtful planting for year-round colour and some delightful places to sit and take in the views with an evening glass of wine.
