Wonderful location in Eskdale. Brimming with history and full of atmosphere.

As a family we really enjoyed staying at Dalegarth Hall. The house was a lovely mix of history with homeliness and comfort. We enjoyed using an aga for the first time and being able to all sit together and have a big family breakfast in the dining room. We had so much space with quiet areas to sit and read. The garden was a really nice outdoor space which we used, it was very nice to read a magazine sitting in the sunshine and hear the birds singing. We loved the history surrounding the house and after visiting properties where you can’t touch furniture etc, it made a lovely change to actually be encouraged to use the period furniture. There were lovely walks right from the front door and the local pubs were only a 15-20 minute walk away. It was lovely to walk out, have an evening meal and a glass of wine without worrying about driving

Hi Kim, it is a fabulous place isn't it? I'm thrilled to hear that you had such a fabulous family gathering and made the most of this fantastic location. It sounds as if you all have lots of wonderful memories of your holiday - and we would love to see you all again next time you're visiting the Lake District.

We loved our stay in this interesting house. Despite disappointing weather, which meant we couldn’t make use of the pretty garden areas, we were warm and comfortable and there was plenty of room for our party of 6 adults, baby and dog. A previous reviewer mentioned that the fridge was small for 6-8 people but we managed well by making use of the pantry. The main sitting room was very comfortable for six; it might be a bit of a squeeze for eight adults, but there is a sitting room upstairs and a rocking chair in a bright spot on the landing - ideal for a quiet read. The kitchen was well equipped and always a warm spot due to the Aga. We were not able to get a phone signal in the house at all (not unusual for Eskdale) and although there were WiFi points in different rooms we could only access an internet signal in the main sitting room. There are lots of pretty walks from the door as well as routes up to the Sca Fells. We also ate at The Boot Inn a couple of times and can highly recommend it.
