It was everything, and more, that we hoped that it would be. Wonderfully remote, hence the understandable rating for local amenities that we enjoyed, with fabulous walks from the house. The house was ideal for us with lots of space and feel of tradition and history whilst enjoying all the luxuries of modern day living including excellent wifi, extremely well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds - including the magnificent and historic 4-poster. Of course we would always like it cheaper but overall we felt it did reflect good value for money compared to other options.

Unique and beautiful house in a stunning location. There are lovely walks straight out of the door along the Esk and up the hill to Birker behind the house. Good for dogs. The interior is quite basic in places and we found the beds and mattresses in need of upgrading (spectacular four-poster in one of the bedrooms).

Hi David, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed your break, it's a lovely place to get away from it all isn't it? It's such a bonus being able to head out walking straight from the front door and leave the car behind. I bet the dogs loved it! I really appreciate your feedback and suggestions for improvement, thank you. Until next time!

We stayed at Dalegarth Hall for a family holiday. The Hall is a fantastic place to stay, big but not excessive, homely and comfortable. Well equipped, we had everything we needed, warm and cosy. The setting is perfect, secluded - so peaceful, set in gardens with open ground and forest all around. Walks from the door of all grades - from a hike to Scafell summit to a gentle stroll by the river. Boot is nearby and has 2 pubs both serving good food to eat in or take away. A well stocked village shop in Eskdale Green. We’ll be booking to stay again!
