Beyond this lies wonderful Skiddaw, the giant massif that stands guard over Keswick. It is England's fourth highest mountain and, if you're feeling fit and well prepared, you can scale it straight from the door.
Why not make the most of stunning Derwentwater during your stay? The stately Keswick Launches wind their way around its seven landing stages making it easy to explore the Borrowdale Valley. Indeed a delightful day out is a walk along the western shore of the Lake to one of Borrowdale's lovely pubs, restaurants or cafes taking in a delicious lunch and then catching a launch back. What a treat. If you'd rather be a bit more hands on then why not hire a kayak, paddleboard or rowing boat from one of the marinas and explore the lake that way? You can find your perfect picnic spot and enjoy the stunning views in all directions. If you are visiting with children then there's lots to do in the area. The Keswick Leisure Pool with its wave machine and huge slide is just a short stroll away from Cumberland Place, ideal for rainy day splash about fun.
