- A beautiful characterful cottage in a stunning location. We had a great time packed with local walks, including heading up the Wastwater screes for the first time in 45 years, visits to numerous pubs (great cumberland sausage at the Bower House) and a fun trip on La'al Ratty. Cottage was great in almost all respects; only one caution, the Cubben Arms was v disappointing. All the darts bar one were broken and the table footie is broken. We had thought we'd spend time in there supping ale and playing pub games with the kids. The web site makes quite a big play about it but it's not currently worth the time so worth knowing that if you have kids who are getting excited about it in advance - ours were very disappointed.

Hi Pete, thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed your break, it's a real home from home isn't it? And the location is stunning, I'm glad you enjoyed exploring. The La'al Ratty is great fun however old you are! I'm so sorry to hear about the Cubben Arms, we've never had any similar feedback to this before. The owner has assured me that he'll rectify the things you've highlighted here as soon as possible. Following on from your observations, they have bought lots of fun, new games for their guests. We really appreciate your feedback and will make sure everything is looked into. I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.
