Inviting Lakeland cottage in the delightful village of Braithwaite Perfect for family days out to activity-packed Whinlatter Forest Park Just 3 miles from bustling Keswick and picturesque Derwentwater

Property code: SZ153

A welcoming cottage in the heart of the Lake District National Park, perfect for walking and cycling, as well as family days out, water sports and forest activities.

Head inside this cottage and you'll find welcoming accommodation for six people. Braithwaite is a charming village with plenty to see and do on your doorstep. Spend a day at nearby Whinlatter Forest Park. Adrenaline junkies will love the Go Ape High Ropes course, or why not walk an alpaca for something a little bit different? Walk to the neighbouring village of Thornthwaite to check out the exhibits at Thornthwaite Galleries and Tearooms. Visit nearby Newlands Valley for a wealth of footpaths and stunning scenery, a beautiful area to truly destress and unwind in the fresh air. Stock up on supplies from the wonderful village shop or treat yourselves to supper out at one of the three pubs in the village.

Walk, cycle, take the bus or drive into Keswick, just 3 miles away, for a morning mooching round the independent and outdoor shops. Grab lunch to go from one of the local cafes and head down to Derwentwater to enjoy a lakeside picnic. Why not take a ride on the popular launch to see the water from a different perspective? Families will love a trip to the nearby Lake District Wildlife Park. Or adults can treat themselves to a tour and tasting at the renowned Lakes Distillery.

Entrance to the cottage is via the sunroom, a lovely bonus extra space with a couple of quaint wicker chairs, perfectly placed to rest tired legs whilst removing muddy boots and wet coats. Onwards into the spacious living room where you're sure to feel instantly at home. There's a choice of a three-seater sofa, two-seater sofa or traditional armchair, all gathered around the wood burner, ideal for cosy nights in relaxing in front of the fire. A TV with smart connection provides the entertainment.

Off the central hallway at the back of the cottage is the modern country-style kitchen and useful pantry space. Well-equipped with an electric oven and hob, handy microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer as well as a useful washer/dryer, cooks are sure to love cooking up a feast in here! An adjacent dining room is perfect for sociable mealtimes, all gathered round the wooden dining table or the second TV.

On the first floor there are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. First up is the master bedroom. With a feature pine double bed, matching pine wardrobe, chest of drawers and dressing table and decorated in calming greens, it's a lovely relaxing room. Next up there is a second double bedroom, this time with a charming metal-framed double bed. This double bedroom also has its own en-suite shower room (with WC, wash basin and shower cubicle), a real treat. Last but by no means least is the cosy twin room, with matching metal-framed beds and a handy chest of drawers and walk in wardrobe for storage. Also on the first floor is the family bathroom. As well as the WC and wash basin there's a bath with a shower over, meaning all tastes are catered for whether you prefer a soak in the tub or an invigorating shower.

There is private parking for one car outside which doubles as your welcome outside space with a lovely bench for making the most of the sunshine. There's also a picnic bench in the kitchen yard for dining alfresco.

Excellent cottage, warm and cosy,in what was a very cold week with snow and ice. Although in a central position in the village it was very quiet and having pubs and restaurants on hand was a bonus when iced up! Dont forget to buy everything you need prior to arrival,if you want to use the log burner, which is an unnecessary but appreciated extra. BeRead moreds and bedding were of high quality and the kitchen was well equipped. Hide

Always wonderful to stay at Crown Cottage. Very well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, cosy lounge and a great entrance porch to remove wet clothes after a day out in typical Cumbrian weather. Braithwaite is a lovely village with great pubs and an amazing village shop/cafe.

Lovely cottage stayed here twice now and will definitely come back. Quiet location but two pubs close by and an excellent restaurant just across the road (ivy cottage). It was a red hot week but the cottage is lovely and cool inside. Parking is a bit tight but no problem in our Clio.

Lovely Cottage in a great location with amazing views. Only let down by a lack of 'basics' like salt, pepper, dishwasher tablets and bin bags.

WE had a wonderful week in 2 Crown Cottages. It was a family get-together following the birth of our first grandchild, and the perfect location for us all to get to know little Alfie. There was plenty of room for us all to chill out when we were in, and plenty of places to visit when we went out. We'll hopefully be back next year!!! Mike Dyson

This was the 5th time we have stayed in Crown Cottage. It truly is home from home and in the perfect little village. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Ideally situated for walking and travelling round the Lake District whether by car, on foot or public transport.

The property had every amenity needed. It was well decorated and equipped and felt like home. The property was also in lovely area with two pubs both serving food just a short walk away. We usually leave a thank you note but having my daughters two children to help pack we forgot. I would definitely stay in this property again.

Good location but parking extremely tight; a lot of manoeuvring backwards and forwards as road is also narrow; really only space for one car and (friendly) neighbour needs access via parking area. Cottage clean and comfortable but beds hard. No garden, only a bench by the bin area. No welcome pack. Otherwise a good cottage and Braithwaite is a loveRead morely location with great walking from the door. Sun room useful for muddy boots/wet coats. We appreciated it being a dog-free house. Hide
