This is a cosy cottage in a great location. Wasdale 30mins; Duddon valley 20 mins. The owner is incredibly helpful and available. Good EE 4G data signal for weather etc. Lounge very comfortable with around 2 day's firewood/coal provided - more available just down the valley. Heating good and the shower warm and good flow. It's one shared bathroom across the house but that's obvious from the information on the “sales” (not allowed to use the name here) page. Well equipped with local info/maps/games and TV has a good selection of Freesat channels for rainy days. Nearest large supermarket is in Millom so plan ahead - but the Eskdale Green store has a good selection and is very friendly. Local amenities got a 6 - but the whole point is that it is remote!

Hi Peter, thank you for taking the time to leave such detailed comments, I really appreciate it and know that other visitors will find them useful. It's great to get away from it all, isn't it? Here's to more wonderful Cumbrian escapes!

Full of character, very clean and comfortable with all the facilities we needed, beautiful views , what's not to like? Highly recommended. We had a minor issue which the owner dealt with quickly and efficiently. Two points to note - fumes from the AGA were a bit strong if the room was closed up. Not a problem in summer but might be in the winter, (although I intend to go back in winter so will find out) and the beware the access track - drive carefully and slowly if you have 'normal' height car. Our family saloon touched the ground a bit hard in a couple of places.

A delightful character cottage in a remote part of Eskdale - not easy to access but the windy roads are more than rewarded by beautiful views from the cottage and peace and quiet.
The cottage is very comfortable with a lovely garden too. There was no internet access at the property which we had not been warned about - fortunately we had mobile phone signal so could use this but it would have been useful to know about the lack of WiFi in order to download films and books etc before we went.
It’s also worth noting that this is an old cottage - lovely period features but also some damp issues and a lot of spiders! Didn’t bother us but might be a problem for some.
