  • Ideal position for enjoying Derwentwater and exploring Keswick
Property code: SZ148

An inviting village home, set in tranquil Grange, less than 1 mile from the shores of Derwentwater and just 5 miles from the popular Lakeland market town of Keswick.

Situated in the Borrowdale valley, in the pretty village of Grange, this holiday cottage offers comfortable self-catering accommodation for up to six people.

This detached house has stunning views of the Lake District mountains from every window and a garden that is the perfect place to relax in after a day on the fells. Grange village boasts two tearooms and two churches, plus plenty of pubs in the neighbouring villages. Borrowdale is a wonderful starting point for hundreds of walks – either on the mountain tops or along the bottom of the valley.

The house is also only a 10-minute drive from all the facilities of the bustling market town of Keswick, with its unsurpassed range of outdoor shops and many pubs, restaurants and cafes. By day, Keswick is the ideal starting point for walkers and climbers, as well as those who want to potter around the shops or take a ride on the steam launch on Derwentwater. By night there is a cinema, or the famous Theatre by the Lake, which puts on plays, shows and concerts all year round.

The small hallway leads into the sitting room with wood burner, seating for six and a smart TV. The windows look out to views of fields and mountains to the front, and yet more fields and mountains to the back.

The sitting room leads into the kitchen which is fully furnished with fridge, dishwasher, cooker, microwave and plenty of storage space. It also has a dining area with a table for six people.

There is a utility area with washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer beyond the kitchen, as well as an additional room with WC.

Upstairs are three bedrooms (two doubles and one twin) plus a bathroom with bath and electric shower over the bath. We also have a travel cot that you are welcome to use - we do ask, though, that you bring linen for the cot. All linen is provided for the beds upstairs.

Outside is a patio area with a lawn beyond and views out to the mountains of Borrowdale. There is space at the front of the house to park two cars.

Crag Lea is in such a beautiful location - stunning views from the front and the back windows. Lots of walking from the door, and only a short drive to Seathwaite to start the hike up to Scafell Pike. The village coffee shop is well worth a visit and Keswick is nearby for food shopping. Well be back!
