Sitting in the heart of the Lake District, this quaint, ground-floor mews cottage boasts spectacular views of Skiddaw from its front door. Sleeping four people over two bedrooms and welcoming two canine companions, it offers the ideal Lakeland getaway for a small family or group of friends who want to immerse themselves in a truly glorious Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Sitting in a pretty complex with two other cottages, larger groups of up to 10 people are able to book the three properties together. Spend your days exploring the lovely town of Keswick or enjoying the wide-open vistas of the Solway Coast, and your evenings sipping wine and soaking up the view in the cottage’s shared back garden.

Step inside this characterful cottage and you’ll feel immediately at home. Head through to the stylish kitchen and rustle up some dinner for your loved ones. You can then eat all together at the dining table in the lounge, or head outside to the garden and dine alfresco. After dinner, pour yourself a glass of wine and make the most of the views from the garden, or make your way to the lounge and slip onto a sofa to catch up on your favourite TV shows as you warm your feet by the gas fire. When it’s time for bed, there are two lovely bedrooms to choose from.

Head into the market town of Keswick (3.5 miles) to browse the local shops or take a cruise on Derwentwater. If you’re there on a Thursday or Sunday, make sure you swing by Market Square to pick up some local delicacies at the fabulous market. Or for a day out with a difference, head to Alpacaly Ever After (1 mile) and take an alpaca for a walk or a lama for a trek.

Perfect! Great central location to pretty much everywhere! Very close to Keswick for shopping, etc! And incredibly peaceful late night for doggo walks! Cant recommend enough! Superb!

Very disappointing. Damp smelling with black mould behind the beds in the second bedroom. Shower was poor and ventilation an issue. Beautiful views but the property was not in a good condition when we visited and we moved to a different property. The owner assured us that they would resolve the damp and mould issues for future guests.

A lovely quiet cottage to holiday with your dog and in a fantastic location, close to all the attractions. The garden is a bonus as it's completed enclosed which means dogs can't escape and the views are stunning. Keswick is a short drive away with plenty of places to eat and drink.

Thornthwaite Birch is in a perfect location for the Northern and Western Lakes. It's a good size for a couple or a small family and the garden is dog proof which gave us some security for letting our pooch out for exercise. The kitchen has everything you might need for making simple meals, however there are alsi loads of good places to eat out withRead morein 5 miles. Hot water is plentiful. Ideal dog friendly cottage as enclosed garden and dogs from all three cottages got on so well so doors could be left open for dogs to play ideal.

The cottage was very clean and well set out on one floor. The garden was shared between the three cottages and we had lovely neighbours who had dogs and we all got on well together. Lovely views and the location was great . Would recommend and definitely would stop again.

Lovely clean cottage in a quiet village.Comfy quilt and bed. Well equipped. Carpets lovely but need a larger door mat or washable flooring near the entrance would be better for wet feet and paws! Washing machine available but would have prefered this in the cottage. Good walks for the dogs locally.

We had an amazing time in the Lake District staying in the Thornthwaite Birch Cottage. Loved the fact that when we arrived, there was complimentary tea, milk, biscuits etc. The standout of this cottage is the beautiful view of Skiddaw. I loved sitting in the beautiful enclosed garden (ideal for our dogs) looking at this beautiful view. There are soRead moreme fantastic walks right on your doorstep. This was our 2nd stay at the Gallery Mews Cottages Thornthwaite. We had previously stayed in Rowan which is slightly bigger than Birch, but both cottages have ample room and facilities. Our two dogs were happy to share the communal garden with two other dogs staying in the two other cottages. There is a secure gate to the garden.
