The Pavilion, Applethwaite Hall is one of a small number of beautiful apartments in this superbly restored Arts and Crafts masterpiece. Originally built for the Roberts family by the renowned architect Thomas Muirhead, who designed the pavilions at The Oval and Old Trafford, Applethwaite Hall was completed in 1901 and enjoys views over Orrest Head and The Langdales. The Hall sits in its own private gardens bordered by woods and fields where deer and badgers are regularly seen. 

Just a couple of miles from the banks of Windermere, this pretty apartment makes a lovely holiday getaway for up to four guests. Set on the lower ground floor of the magnificent Applethwaite Hall, this bright and appealing retreat is perfect for keen walkers, cyclists and nature lovers discovering the region’s beautiful fells, woodlands and lakes. Dating back to 1901, this idyllic Arts and Crafts property occupies private gardens with chances to spot deer and badgers in the surrounding woods and fields and offers stunning views over Orrest Head and the Langdales.

Entering this impressive country house, the hallway leads down to the beautiful apartment on the lower ground floor. Stepping inside, the inner hallway has a handy reading area, desk and a choice of useful maps and local books. The welcoming lounge/diner is a great space to relax, watch a movie on the Smart TV, play a game on the PS4 or share a meal around the elegant dining table. The spacious kitchen is a pleasure to cook in and there’s a choice of two sumptuous bedrooms: a bright en-suite king-size room with views over the garden, and a refreshing super-king-size room with a Smart TV. There’s also a stylish family bathroom. Outside, you will have a charming private south-facing terrace with a veranda, providing a delightful spot for dining alfresco and taking in the views over the garden. There’s also a large, shared lawn area, a choice of garden games and private woodland to explore.

With the waters of Windermere to the west (2 miles), the apartment is ideally positioned for discovering a wide choice of great local attractions including Holehird Gardens, the picturesque lakeside towns of Windermere and Bowness, Stock Ghyll Force, Rydal Water, Ambleside Roman Fort, Wray Castle and Brockhole on Windermere (all within 9 miles).

Wonderful apartment. Wonderful location. Cant fault it. The attention to detail throughout the apartment is first class. Even a warm water garden hose with a lovely doggy shampoo to wash down our springer spaniel after long walks over the hills.

This is a beautiful apartment! Everything you could need is there (except for the microwave oven which needs updating), it is located in a beautiful part of the world and is only a mile walk to Windermere town centre. Applethwaite Hall and the surrounding gardens etc. have been beautifully kept and we had a totally relaxing holiday there.

Do not book this cottage unless you are prepared to walk 1.2 miles each way to amenities. The walk is down a single track lane, the width of a medium size car with high hedges and bends. Too dangerous for a pedestrian in our opinion. It comes out on to the main A591 road close to bends in both directions with a constant stream of traffic travellingRead more at 50 mph!!
