Sleeping two people in one gorgeous, well-appointed bedroom, this utterly charming terraced cottage provides a peaceful retreat. It’s a hidden gem boasting lovely, fresh, contemporary decor; its own parking space and a cottage garden and patio enclosed by a picket fence. Perfect for enjoying a morning cuppa with the paper!

The cottage's situation means you can make the most of the endless outdoor opportunities that Keswick offers. The walking ranges from gentle potters along Derwentwater's shore nearby, to scaling Lake District giants such as Skiddaw - the choice is yours. Miles of off-road tracks along with quieter country roads and challenging mountain passes make the area a paradise for cyclists; you can always hire an e-bike if the hills are a little too daunting. Why not make use of glorious Derwentwater during your visit? A picturesque cruise on a heritage launch, a gentle trip on a stand-up paddleboard or perhaps a wild swim might suit.

At this cottage, you are right in the heart of things if you'd rather not exert yourself too much. Keswick is an energetic and vibrant small town with an atmosphere all its own. There's a twice weekly market, a great selection of outdoor and independent shops, even its own stunningly situated theatre and an art deco cinema. Why not take in a play or concert during your stay? The foodies among you can enjoy a fantastic choice of restaurants, pubs and cafes. So, if you'd like to come to the Lakes, park the car and be perfectly placed to explore this wonderful area right outside the door of your welcoming and comfortable holiday home then this cottage will certainly fit the bill.

The accommodation is found down a quiet lane in the heart of Keswick. With an elegant bedroom, a delightful gated patio garden and its own designated parking space it makes the perfect cottage from which to explore this much-loved town on foot. The owners have used the available space to great effect harnessing light and using fresh decor and evocative local art to make a cottage that is welcoming and deceptively spacious.

On arrival at the rear of the house guests enter into the lovely light dining room. There are coat hooks and a boot rack, a dining set and a wooden dresser with plenty of crockery for your stay. There's also an entrance into the handy downstairs wet room which has a mixer shower with curtain, sink and WC. From here you move through to the modern kitchen, it's a stylish space with exposed beams and is equipped with built-in fan oven, four ceramic hobs, washing machine and compact fridge/freezer. Beyond here is the charming living room. There are two sofas (one leather, one fabric) and a leather armchair arranged around a fireplace with electric effect stove and a Smart TV. There are cunningly incorporated maps alongside local art to inspire your outdoor adventures.

Head up the curved staircase to the first floor where you'll find the gorgeous king-size bedroom. It's a welcoming room with a decorative fireplace along with a compact wardrobe and chest of drawers for storage. You can also drink in the fell views whilst having that morning cuppa. There's also a spacious family bathroom on the first floor with an over-bath mixer shower.

The second floor rooms are private but you'll find a great selection of books and boardgames along the staircase to keep you entertained.

Many town centre properties lack parking and outdoor space but that's not so here. To the rear of the house is a designated parking place for one car and a handy bench outside the back door for taking a moment to remove muddy walking boots. Moving out to the front of the house there's an adorable gated garden just across the path. This footway only serves this terrace of houses making it a quiet little corner of the town. With a white picket fence, mature shrubs and a raised patio area with metal dining furniture and cushions, the cottage garden is a wonderfully peaceful place to enjoy a sunny morning breakfast or an evening glass of wine while only being a stone's throw from Keswick's lively heart.

Our second stay at Camellia Cottage. We love it ! Well equipped, comfortable, great location in Keswick, spaceous bedroom and bathroom. A great cosy place to come back to after a cold, wet day in the hills ! Can,t wait to book again

The Lake District National Park is situated in the north west of England in the county of Cumbria. It is famously home to England’s tallest peak, largest lake, deepest lake and some of the most beautiful views in the British Isles. It has been a major draw for holidaymakers for over 200 years and its popularity shows no signs that this will diminish anytime soon. Adding to the spectacle, there are long-distance walking trails, endless history and culture to appreciate, as well as an unbeatable array of outdoor activities to try in some exceptionally eye-catching locations.

Mountains, lakes, rocky rivers, waterfalls, and valleys lined by stone walls characterise the Lake District National Park. Add to this vision slate-roofed villages, winding country roads, arctic alpine and wildflower meadows, and beautiful birds such as skylarks, curlews, meadow pipits, and lapwings, which all provide the perfect backdrop for a holiday. The poet, William Wordsworth, who lived in Grasmere, wrote a guidebook of the area in 1810, and very little has changed in the region to tie it into the modern world. The centre of the Lake District is dominated by its craggy mountains such as Scafell Pike and its exceptional lakes like Windermere, Ullswater, Derwentwater, Coniston Water and so many more.

Each of the Lake District’s towns has a village sensibility, yet all of them offer handy amenities, cultural attractions and some of the North West’s best places to eat and drink. Top visitor attractions include The World of Beatrix Potter, Sizergh Castle, Hill Top, Go Ape Grizedale, Grizedale Forest, Fellini and Zefferelli’s Cinema/Restaurants, the Bluebird Mk II, Ravenglass Roman Bathouse alongside a world of outdoor sporting and activity providers. Natural landmarks include Aira Force, Tarn Hows, Scaffell Pike, Castlerigg Stone Circle, The Old Man of Coniston, Helvellyn and Skiddaw. Pull on your walking boots and traverse the long-distance walking trails of the Lakes like Wainwright’s Coast to Coast, and the Tour of the Lake District.

As you get to know the region better, you will find evidence of prehistoric and ancient man in the Lake District, as there are standing stones, circles, and rows to find, as well as one of the largest standing Roman buildings in the UK. Visit Ravenglass, one of the UK’s oldest settlements and the only coastal village in the Lake District; it has beautiful waterside views of the Munros of Southern Scotland. Remnants of the region’s industrial activity can be traced in the form of bobbin mills, gunpowder mills, and mines. The Lakes also have some famous literary and art associations, including Beatrix Potter, John Ruskin, Arthur Ransome, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, William Wordsworth, JMW Turner, John Constable, LS Lowry and Percy Kelly.
