We loved our stay at Amber Cottage. It's the perfect little base to explore the Lake District. We stayed over Christmas and it was a lovely spot to hike from with a stop at the pub on the way back, just a 5 minute walk away in the centre of Ambleside. We didn't use the car for 3 days as there's so much on your doorstep, direct from the cottage. It Read morewas very quiet and we'd definitely stay again. The bath and shower were both great and the bed was super comfortable after a long day of walking. The kitchen's well equipped and once we got the log burner going, it was warm and cosy. There were only a couple of small things we'd note for next time - there were no glasses to have a drink of water from, we ended up using mugs. It would have been great to have had a little firewood/kindling to get started with as check-in was quite late, and after a 6-hour drive, it wasn't something we thought about grabbing on our way in. We'd definitely recommend for anyone looking for a trip to the lakes! FROM THE AGENT: We're so pleased you had a great stay! We'll pop along to replenish the glassware and thank you for letting us know. Hide

Lovely, cosy little cottage, the heating and hot water worked really well. Everything in the Kitchen was pretty new looking and worked well. As did the TV/internet and shower/bath upstairs. We really appreciated being able to bring our dog along with us and he seemed very comfortable on his bed in the lounge. The rustic tiled floor meant it was easRead morey to get in and out, and keep things clean, after walks up on the hills that were a 2 minute walk directly up a quiet cul-de-sac from the cottage and straight out into the stunning beauty of the fells all around Ambleside, especially with the Autumn colours! Loading and unloading is a case of blocking the lane for a couple of minutes at the start and the end, as parking is in the carpark at the bottom of the hill. Ambleside itself is busy and has a real outdoor adventurers feel to it and lots of good and interesting shops and 2 cinemas! We enjoyed the boat ride down to Bowness and back, although would probably skip Bowness next time Hide
