Nestled in a small hamlet midway between Lake Bassenthwaite and Bassenthwaite village, this charming Cumbrian cottage offers a stylish base for your Lake District adventures. Set around a small courtyard with a handful of similar properties, this delightful cottage sleeps up to three guests, making it ideal for couples, friends and small families. After adventurous days hiking, walking, and enjoying the region’s many attractions, you’ll love returning here to rest and recharge.

This traditional terraced cottage has been lovingly renovated to blend contemporary design and comforts with original features, giving it plenty of charm and character. Throw a log or two on the wood burner, and enjoy cosy evenings with your loved ones in the lounge, watching a film or just spending quality time together. The smart fitted kitchen has everything you need to prepare delicious meals at home, before gathering around the dining table to wine, dine and chat. Upstairs, a spacious master double and a smaller double with space to set up a cot offer a comfortable night’s sleep. With a large walk-in shower, the family shower room completes the property. Although this charming abode doesn’t have a private garden, guests have use of a shared courtyard with seating – ideal for sipping a morning cuppa and listening to the birds.

Popular walks include climbing Skiddaw and a riverside trail to the Lord’s Seat (6 and 11 miles respectively), as well as Binsey Fell (3 miles), described by Wainwright as ‘a simple walk for a big view’. Lovely cottage on the edge of Bassenthwaite village, ideal location for visiting the more northern lakes and Keswick. Very comfortable beds, good shower and spotlessly clean. Nice pubs nearby - we tried the Sun Inn in the village and The Pheasant just a few minutes drive round the top of the Lake. Lovely comfortable cosy cottage. Welcome pack of coffee, tea, milk and biscuits was very much appreciated. Bed was very comfortable. Had everything needed to enjoy a break away from home.

Very pleased with location, cleanliness and comfort of the cottage. Unfortunately we were let down by heating not being switched on prior to our arrival as detailed in the welcome book (arriving with the temperature at 8 degrees Cent.). While kitchen and bedroom heaters could be switched to provide instant heat, the storage heater in the lounge beinRead moreg on "off peak" (on at 12 midnight) did not produce any heat until the following day. This was completely unacceptable as the living room was too cold to be used. Arriving after 3.00pm we should not have been expected to go searching for logs for the stove, and in any case for the price paid for the property the least we could have expected was a starter kit for the stove. We note from the visitors book that a welcome pack has been provided, which we did not get. This spoiled our first day and initial impressions of the property. Hide

The location of the cottage was misleading. It is said to be down a private road but that is actually the driveway off a main road - the A591 - which is very busy. If the description has been better it would have saved 30 minutes of searching and the need to ring your office for real time instructions.
