Located near the calming waters of Bassenthwaite Lake, this chic and stylish property sets the scene for a memorable stay in the Lake District. With space for eight people and up to two dogs, this Lakeland cottage is ideal for multi-generational families and groups of friends who love the great outdoors. While away days fell walking, enjoying water activities on the lake and birdwatching. Then return here to soak up the sun in the grassy garden or snuggle up beside the wood burner.

Bright and spacious throughout, this cottage combines original features with contemporary flair for a warm and welcoming ambience. Two lounges offer space to spread out or gather together, with a wood burner in one and a coal-effect electric fire in the other. The smart, contemporary kitchen has everything you need to feed a crowd, including an Aga range oven and a dining table seating eight. A door leads out into the enclosed, grassy garden which has outdoor furniture and picturesque views. Upstairs, four beautifully appointed bedrooms invite a restful sleep after thrilling days. Choose between a king-size, a twin, a second twin that can be converted to a super-king-size, and a room with bunk beds that are ideal for children. Two bathrooms and a downstairs WC offer comfort and convenience, and there’s space for four cars on the driveway.

It's around a mile to the northern tip of Bassenthwaite Lake, which offers an array of outdoor activities around its shore. Set off to stroll a lakeside path or indulge in a range of water activities from canoeing and kayaking to fishing, sailing, paddleboarding and swimming. It’s a great spot for birdwatching, too, with the Dubwath Silver Meadows Nature Reserve (2 miles) and migrating osprey feeding at certain times of the year.

We had a wonderful stay, house is really cozy and very comfortable. All the little extras (blankets for the dogs, basket of treats on arrival, cookbook to help with cooking on the aga) were really helpful.
