Occupying an idyllic location amid rolling farmland, this eco-friendly barn conversion welcomes outdoors enthusiasts seeking to explore the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales national parks. Located 2 miles from the market town of Kendal and 9.5 miles from Lake Windermere, it’s the ideal place to unwind, yet within easy reach of the action.

Set on the owner’s grounds yet enjoying its own privacy, this traditional Lakeland barn has been renovated in sustainable style and is powered by an air source heat pump and solar panels. Inside, lofty ceilings, large windows and traditional materials form a light and bright space adorned in neutral hues with pops of colour and lots of cosy touches. The open-plan living space is ideal for socialising and entertaining with three sofas dotted throughout the lounge and dining area, and a well-equipped kitchen that feels fresh and modern. Skylights and large windows add to the sense of light and space while the vibrant greens of nature outside blend beautifully with the decor. Art and ceramics made by the owner-artists decorate the space and underfloor heating keeps toes and paws toasty whatever the weather. Two soothing bedrooms, one double and one king-size, invite you upstairs for a blissful night’s sleep. There’s a convenient WC between them with the main family bathroom on the ground floor. Outside, a rambling cottage garden is ideal for al fresco feasts and evening drinks beneath the stars, and there’s private parking for two cars.

Home to two castles, two museums and a host of shops and eateries, Kendal is a great base to have on your doorstep, with several festivals dotted throughout the year. For a traditional Lakeland experience, head to Lake Windermere for lakeside strolls, leisure boat excursions, water activities, and fell rambling.

Lovely cottage, great for dogs as enclosed garden . Very clean and one of the best places I've stayed, kitchen well equipped and absolutely loved the whistling kettle.
