Approached by a track which runs alongside a stream, the property is set on a working farm and surrounded by open farmland. Set on the edge of the North Pennines National Landscape, the Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the cottage is an excellent choice for anyone who enjoys wildlife, bird watching and exploring on foot or by bike. The historic towns of Penrith (10 miles) and Appleby (6 miles) have a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. Appleby also has a family butcher, where you will find farm produce to purchase. Other attractions in the area include Lowther, Penrith and Brougham Castles (all within 12.5 miles), as well as National Trust properties. Ullswater is only 16 miles away; enjoy a steamer across the Lake and explore some of the stops along the way. If you don’t want to venture far, step out for a woodland walk and spot some of the local wildlife and birds.
Set in a pretty, cobbled courtyard opposite the owners’ home (privacy is assured), you will find this charming ground-floor converted barn. Walk into the hallway where you will find a separate WC and a large storage cupboard where you can store your coats and boots after a busy day exploring. The kitchen can be accessed from the hall or lounge; there is a dining area with a table for two to enjoy breakfast or a romantic evening meal. From here, head through to the light and spacious lounge where you can relax on the comfortable sofa in front of the wood burner-effect electric fire and watch your favourite movie or series on the Smart TV, or, if you prefer, there are lots of games and books to choose from. Further along the hallway is the bedroom with king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC.
Outside, you are surrounded by lovely countryside, woodland, wildlife and farm animals; the fields have Shorthorn cows and Herwick sheep to look out over. To the front of the property, you will find a small lawned area with seating to sit out and enjoy a glass of wine.
