Located in the tranquil village of Rowrah, this chic and stylish cottage sets the scene for a memorable break in the Lake District. Four guests and two dogs have the run of this traditional property, which was fully renovated in 2024. The lakes and peaks of Ennerdale are within 4.5 miles while the coast is within 6 miles, making this an ideal base for exploring both coast and countryside.
This two-storey terrace cottage has been lovingly refurbished, blending traditional elements such as original fireplaces and wood panelling with cool, contemporary decor. The lounge invites relaxation after days on the trails, with plush seating, a cosy wood burner and vibrant pops of colour. Bathed in neutral hues, the country-style kitchen has modern appliances, striking wooden worktops, a bench dining table and another wood burner. A door leads out via the utility space to an enclosed shingle garden set over two levels, where you can fire up the BBQ and dine alfresco while gazing across the open countryside. Upstairs, two charming bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, boast lovely country views and share use of the family shower room. On-street parking is available.
Rowrah has a small convenience store, a couple of bars and is home to the Ennerdale Brewery and a farm offering alpaca walking. It’s a great starting point for many Lake District adventures, including Ennerdale Water (5 miles), the dramatic Scale Force Waterfall (12 miles), and the peaks of High Stile, Pillar and Grasmoor (within 11.5 miles). For a day at the coast, head to St Bees (8.5 miles), home to a popular coastal village and heritage coastline with a large RSPB reserve.
