A fabulous dog-friendly home in an idyllic spot in Ireby, a sweet Lake District village with a lovely local pub within 50 metres. Absorb the spectacular views from the main living areas and garden, and plan adventurous days out discovering the local scenery on foot or by bike. The Binsey walk (3 miles), offering gorgeous views, is an easy one to get you started and is also suitable for children, thanks to its wide grassy paths.
This cottage has an upside-down layout, with its three cosy bedrooms – two doubles (one of which has an en-suite shower room) and a twin – on the ground floor, allowing you to make the most of the outstanding vistas from the main living areas. On this floor, you’ll also find the family bathroom with shower over the bath. Upstairs, the lounge features a warming wood burner, lovely wooden beams and a picture window (as we said, it’s all about the views here!). The decor is contemporary rustic, with plenty of natural shades, subtle colour splashes and wooden accents. In the combined kitchen and dining area, prepare family meals and enjoy them as you soak up those vistas. A second lounge provides a convenient spot for reading. The cottage's enclosed garden, with a furnished patio and a charming pergola, is a sanctuary in good weather and a haven for children and four-legged friends.
Locally, take the dogs up to the picturesque Binsey Hill (3 miles) for stunning views over Bassenthwaite Lake (7 miles), a wildlife-rich area home to osprey and wild salmon. The nearby villages of Uldale (1.5 miles) and Caldbeck (6 miles) both offer a slice of Lakes life, outstanding scenic beauty and friendly local pubs. Feel like getting out into the fells? Your temporary abode is in the heart of the ‘Back of Skiddaw’, or Uldale Fells area, with easy access to both the majestic Skiddaw (8 miles) and Blencathra (13 miles). For a change of scenery, the coast is only 13 miles west.
