Set within a quaint village and sleeping four people, this cosy cottage is an idyllic retreat for couples and small families seeking to explore the picturesque landscapes of the famous Solway Coast or enjoy wild adventures venturing around the lakes.

As you enter this inviting abode, you're met with a welcoming open-plan lounge/diner where your first port of call is to flick on the coal-effect gas fire and warm up chilly toes. The comfortable seating has been cleverly arranged around the Smart TV to ensure fun-filled nights in. When tummies begin to rumble, cater for your party in the well-equipped kitchen, where you'll also find modern appliances, stylish cabinetry, and a handy breakfast bar. Go upstairs, where there are three delightful bedrooms. Choose from a king-size, which is decorated with relaxation in mind, a double room with soft linens and a charming single bedroom with stunning views across the countryside. Also upstairs is a beautifully appointed family bathroom with a shower over the bath, offering the perfect start to any day of adventuring. The property has a small garden where you can eat alfresco or enjoy a crisp glass of wine in the evening. There is a garage on-site where you can park your small or medium car, or you can park in the village.

Although located in a quiet spot, the property is close to many amenities, including a lovely local pub and several impressive walking routes that take in the remote but breathtaking landscapes of the Ennerdale Valley and Loweswater Fells. Whinlatter Forest (11 miles) is well worth a visit. Cockermouth, Whitehaven and Keswick are all within 18 miles and offer a fascinating afternoon of moseying about the shops.

This is a lovely clean and comfortable cottage. It was a lovely base to return to after a day exploring the lakes and was also comfortable to spend our rest days there. In particular the kitchen was well equipped and there was everything we needed to make homecooked meals easily. We would definitely go again!
