This atmospheric former 1700s-era coaching inn is located in the Eden Valley close to the village of Plumpton. The accommodation is found a mile south of the village of Plumpton, with easy access to the national road and rail network. The Lake District National Park, and North Pennines AONB are close by, so there’s plenty to see and do during your stay. Visit the Pot Place Garden Centre (0.5 miles) just down the road in Plumpton or for a dash of history and culture, stop in at Hutton in the Forest (3 miles). Golfers can up their game at the local Penrith Golf Course (4.5 miles). If you fancy a day by the lake, a steamer ride, or some water sports, then Ullswater (14 miles) is just a 20-minute drive away.
Spend time exploring the historic border city of Carlisle; from shops for a spot of retail therapy to museums and a castle for those with an interest in history, there's something for everyone here. If walking is more your thing, then a hike up Cross Fell, the highest mountain in the Pennines, is sure to please or head into The Lakes and tackle some of Alfred Wainwright’s famous list. Wherever you choose to visit in the Lake District, this holiday home is a superb choice for your family or a group of your friends.
Heading into the property, the large kitchen-diner is well equipped with everything you’d need for a self-catering holiday. The electric range-style oven is sure to be a hit with the cooks in the group. You’ll also find a handy microwave, all important kettle and toaster, fridge-freezer, plus an additional separate fridge. There’s even a dishwasher so there will be no need to argue over who has to do the washing up! The wooden farmhouse dining table is perfect for sociable mealtimes. French doors lead from the kitchen out onto a lovely patio area. With an outdoor table and chairs, it’s a lovely spot for dining alfresco when the weather allows.
The first thing you’ll notice in the living room is the large picture window framing the fantastic view of the surrounding countryside, including the imposing Saddleback in the distance - you’ll be itching to get out and explore! The inviting window seat is the perfect spot to catch up with a good book, or simply take in those fabulous views. The super OS-clad coffee table is also on hand to help when planning your next adventures, whilst a feature electric stove is ideal for cosy evenings in relaxing on the sofas, and there’s a wall-mounted Smart TV for entertainment too.
Also on the ground floor is a handy WC and washbasin, a real bonus. Upstairs there are four beautiful bedrooms - all light, bright and airy. The king-size bedroom has the bonus of its own en-suite shower room; a fantastic modern bathroom with a WC, washbasin and large stylish shower with wonderful rainfall-effect shower head. The wooden bedside tables have useful drawers and there’s also a quirky wall-mounted hanging rail for storage. The next bedroom has a useful wall-mounted storage rail and a handy sink. This room is usually a super-king-size but can be made up as a twin upon request. The third bedroom has an inviting double bed, useful sink and there's plenty of storage thanks to the built-in wardrobe. Last but by no means least is the twin bedroom. With a fabulous view to the distant fells, this room is sure to delight too. Also on the first floor is the modern family bathroom. With a WC, washbasin and shower over bath, all tastes are catered for here, whether you prefer a soak in the tub or a refreshing shower.
Outside is no less delightful. As well as the patio area off the kitchen, there’s a large lawn area to the side of the cottage. With mature trees and shrubs, the garden is a lovely spot to relax after a long day. Over the garden wall is a lovely view of the neighbouring fields and fells beyond; you’ll feel the stresses of everyday life drifting away as you gaze out over the rolling countryside.
There is ample off-road parking for up to four cars. The cottage has an electric car charger, which is available if you're bringing an electric car to use during your stay. There is also lockable bike storage available at the cottage, perfect if you like to get out and about on two wheels instead.
