Striking cottage, deep in the heart of Eskdale, with fascinating walking opportunities in every direction. Take a ride on a steam train through the picturesque valley or head to the dramatic Cumbrian coast to discover remote beaches and quaint villages.

If you're looking for a cosy retreat for two that's surrounded by beautiful scenery, then this cottage could just be the one for you. Inside you'll find charming accommodation that's perfect for a romantic break away. The lovely living room has a fantastic wood burner, and the kitchen/diner is well equipped, perfect for whipping up delicious meals. The king-size bedroom and bathroom can be found upstairs, and the cottage has a wonderful large garden with lawn and patio area ideal for people and dogs alike!

aThe peaceful hamlet of Eskdale Green is a fantastic base for a holiday. Keen walkers will delight at the wealth of walking opportunities on offer from the door. Explore the delightfully named Giggle Alley Wood and the intriguing Japanese Garden or enjoy a picnic lunch at the beautiful Stanley Ghyll Force. There's plenty of choice nearby for longer days out on the fell tops too. The well prepared can tackle Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain, or hike up Muncaster Fell for stunning views over the valley. Visit remote Devoke Water or head to the neighbouring valley of Wasdale for a walk by magnificent Wastwater, the deepest of all the lakes in the area. The picturesque Cumbrian coast is also within reach, so why not spend some time exploring here? Check out the harbour town of Whitehaven, enjoy a clifftop walk at St Bees Head or visit nearby Drigg Beach, less than a 15-minute drive away.

A ride on the scenic Eskdale to Ravenglass railway, affectionately known as La'al Ratty, is a must and it's a great way to take in your stunning surroundings. The coastal town of Ravenglass has a rich history and the remains of the Roman Bathhouse are sure to intrigue. Visit the historic - and reputedly haunted - Muncaster Castle; take a tour of the historic house and its beautiful gardens before taking in one of their spectacular bird of prey displays.

Step inside the front door of this property and you're sure to feel instantly at home. With a luxurious wool carpet and original wooden beams, this is a fantastic room that's both spacious and cosy. The Chesterfield-style leather sofa and armchair are positioned in front of the wood burning stove and there's a smart TV with Sky and Netflix access, perfect for relaxing evenings in.

Down three steps from the living room is the kitchen/diner. The kitchen is full of character, with beautiful slate flooring and wooden beams, and the cottage's original bread oven is a fantastic feature. It’s well equipped with an electric oven and gas hob, fridge-freezer and handy microwave, and there's also a useful washing machine should you need to make use of this during your stay. The round dining table is the perfect spot for sociable mealtimes.

The stairs lead up from the living room to the bedroom: a lovely, cosy room with plenty of original features and a delightful view over the garden and countryside beyond. With a king-size bed, you can treat yourselves to a long lie in - you are on holiday after all! Also on the first floor is the bathroom. With a WC, washbasin and bath with handheld shower attachment, it's perfect for indulging in a long soak in the tub.

Outside the cottage you'll find a wonderful garden with a lawn area and two patios. Dogs will love running around on the lawn. There are sun loungers to relax on and an outdoor table and chairs for al fresco dining. Keep your eyes peeled for the wide variety of birds that also like to visit this fantastic garden, or you might be lucky enough to spot one of the resident red squirrels.

There's also plenty of off-road parking on the cottage's driveway.

Overall very good indeed, lovely characterful cottage, clean and well equipped. Shame it doesn't have a shower, but this can't be avoided given the shape/height of the cottage. A great cottage in a lovely location and a superb enclosed garden for the dogs. Yes, you can tell dogs stay there, but it is very clean and cosy and well equipped. The log burner was great to have and the upstairs area being dog free was a haven of tranquility. Lovely walks too just outside the front door. Would certainly recommend
