This pretty cottage boasts incredible views of the Lake District countryside, perfect for couples or a small family who want an outdoor getaway with plenty of walking and cycling opportunities nearby.
This charming two-bedroom cottage enjoys an enviable elevated position on the edge of the much-loved village of Glenridding. It provides homely accommodation for four people. At the back of the cottage is the well-equipped kitchen, whilst the living/dining room is to the front. With a wood burning stove and stunning views towards the Helvellyn range, it's a fantastic room. Up on the first floor are the two double bedrooms, one spacious and the other more cosy, and the family bathroom. Outside is a delightful garden that slopes down to the cottage's designated parking space.
The mountain scenery is inspiring and the fell walking here is hard to beat; you can even leave the car parked and enjoy a different walk from the door every single day of your holiday! Serious fell walkers will relish the opportunity to tackle mighty Helvellyn straight from the front door. For the adventurous and well prepared, Striding Edge provides an exciting route to the summit. If you don't fancy going right to the top, check out Greenside Mine on the slopes for clues about the area's industrial past. Pack a picnic and spend the day by beautiful Ullswater. Enjoy lakeside strolls, wild swimming or a ride on the majestic Ullswater Steamer.
In fair weather take a scenic drive over Kirkstone Pass, a steep and winding narrow mountain pass with stunning vistas, to bustling Ambleside. Spend a morning looking round the great choice of independent and outdoor shops before treating yourselves to lunch from one of the quirky eateries. Continue south to vibrant Bowness-on-Windermere. From here, you can catch the ferry across to Hawkshead, another charming Lakeland village that's certainly worth a visit. Visit Beatrix Potter's former home of Hill Top, stock up on the famous Hawkshead Relish or indulge your sweet tooth at the ice cream shop.
At the back of the cottage is the country kitchen. Well equipped with everything you'll need for a self-catering holiday, there's an electric oven and hob, fridge and a very useful dishwasher. There's also a great selection of crockery and cookware including a slow cooker for warming winter stews. The breakfast bar with two stools is the perfect spot for a peaceful morning coffee.
The living/dining room is a real treat. At the front of the cottage, this lovely room has magnificent views towards Helvellyn. Enjoy a home-cooked meal around the dining table before moving to relax on the sofas. Positioned around the wood burner, they are ideal for cosy evenings in in front of the fire. There's a TV with Sky Q box for entertainment - if you can tear yourselves away from the views that is!
Upstairs on the first floor are the two bedrooms. The spacious master bedroom contains a double bed and has stunning views over the front of the cottage towards the Helvellyn range. Bring your morning cuppa back to bed and indulge in a lie in while gazing out at the view - you are on holiday after all! The second bedroom is a lovely, cosy double room and has an equally wonderful outlook, this time up Glenridding Dodd at the back of the cottage. Also on the first floor is the family bathroom. As well as the WC and washbasin, there's shower over bath. Enjoy a long soak in the tub or reinvigorate muscles tired from walking under the shower.
As well as parking for one car, at the front of the cottage is a lovely garden. With outdoor furniture and stunning views towards Helvellyn, it's a lovely spot for dining alfresco with a stunning backdrop. Please note that whilst the garden is enclosed, there is a change in levels due to the sloping nature of the ground. Children will therefore need to be supervised here as there are a few steps between the change in levels.
