This beautiful holiday home is a beautiful barn conversion for two people and one dog. The stunning open-plan living-dining-kitchen area manages to feel both wonderfully cosy and fantastically spacious - the perfect mix! The double bedroom is perfect for indulging in a long lie in, whilst the modern shower room is ideal for invigorating tired muscles after a day out exploring. Enjoy a peaceful moment in the garden, ideal for that morning cuppa or evening G&T.
The rural hamlet of Leadgate can be found near the North Pennines village of Alston, reputedly the highest market settlement in England. This village is sure to charm with its cobbled streets, market cross and bandstand; ambling around the village is a delightful way to spend an afternoon. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there's plenty of rugged countryside to explore. Head out on one of the many footpaths for a bracing walk before returning to Alston for a well deserved drink and hearty meal in one of the village pubs. Alston is also the starting point of the South Tynedale Railway, the highest narrow gauge railway in England and a brilliant way to see even more of the surrounding countryside.
The surrounding landscape is peppered with clues as to its rich heritage. Why not spend a day walking a section of Hadrian's Wall? History buffs will also love a visit to the remains of nearby Whitely Castle, an unusually shaped Roman Fort just a stone's throw from the cottage itself. Head to nearby Nenthead to learn about how mining has shaped the very landscape. With both on your doorstep, you can pop over the border for a day in beautiful Northumberland or head into the Lake District, a 25-mile drive scenic drive away. You really have the best of both worlds at the property.
The open-plan living-dining-kitchen area is a wonderful social space and has everything you could need to make your stay a comfortable one. The modern, country-style kitchen is well equipped with an electric cooker, fridge, freezer, handy microwave, useful washer and a dishwasher - there'll be no fighting over the washing up here! There's a dining table and two chairs tucked in the corner by the window, so you can enjoy your dinner whilst enjoying a lovely view over the garden. With a two-seater sofa and an armchair, there's plenty of room in the living area to relax. Curl up with a good book or have an evening in front of the telly, the TV has Freesat and a DVD player.
Down the hallway to the bedroom, a wonderfully relaxing room. In here you'll find the feature metal double bed as well as a useful wardrobe for storage. The modern shower room is a real treat: as well as the requisite WC and wash basin, there's a fantastic shower cubicle with waterfall shower. A heated towel rail means there'll be a cosy towel waiting for you.
Outside you'll find a wonderful garden. With a lawned area and space for sitting out (garden furniture is provided), it really is a delight. There's also a bike store available should you prefer to explore on two wheels. As the cottage and garden are surrounded by farmland and livestock, dogs will need to be kept on their lead at all times.
