Enjoy a rural stay that benefits from both country and coastline here in Cumbria. With Whitehaven, Cockermouth and the area’s many fells close by, your stay here promises to be one filled with adventure.

Welcome to this cosy end of terrace cottage for up to five people tucked down a country lane in peaceful Lamplugh. Boasting fresh decor and some beautiful traditional features including a wonderful wood burner it has two lovely bedrooms overlooking its garden and the fells beyond.

Set on the western edge of the Lake District National Park the area around Lamplugh offers some gloriously unspoiled countryside as well as easy access to the coast. There is so much to explore within a few miles' radius of the cottage from tranquil tarns and gentle river strolls to wonderfully picturesque lakes and mighty fells. The tranquil Ennerdale Valley, one of the Lake District's wildest valleys is just a few miles away. Its remote location and wonderful walking opportunities make it the perfect place to escape to even in high season. Or why not visit Loweswater and Crummock Water in the opposite direction? Two stunning lakes with a wealth of walks both gentle and more challenging and the promise of a lovely meal at the pub located between the two.

If you'd like to explore local town life you could head to Cockermouth, less than 8 miles away. This charming Georgian town was the birthplace of William Wordsworth and you can still visit his childhood home. Alternatively you might enjoy its great choice of independent shops and eateries. Heading west you could visit Whitehaven, a Georgian maritime town with a colourful history involving rum, sugar and piracy. You could even bring your bicycle and follow the Coast to Coast cycle route from the cottage to get there. Whichever side of this lovely area you choose to explore, this cottage makes a charming and welcoming jumping off point.

On arrival at the property you are greeted by the traditional stone floored dining room with a lovely heavy oak table and chairs and a decorative fireplace. The room makes a great place for planning your holiday adventures over leisurely dinners. To your right on entry is the cosy living room. Decorated with local prints and fresh light decor it benefits from two brown leather sofas on which to curl up around the beautiful wood burner. There is a Smart TV, as well as a choice of books in the dresser in the dining area. Beyond the dining room is the modern kitchen. It has a fan oven and electric hobs along with a fridge, microwave, caffetiere and sufficient crockery and utensils for your stay.

Moving through the traditional latched stair door you head up the curved staircase to the first floor. You first reach the master bedroom. This is a lovely spacious room with a double bed, wooden floors and a gorgeous view over the garden and nearby fells. It has a beautiful full length mirror, a chest of drawers and hanging hooks on the back of the door. The triple room has a single bed and sturdy bunkbeds. It's a lovely characterful room with a decorative fireplace, a wardrobe, chest of drawers and that dreamy view over the neigbouring cottage to the fells beyond.

This floor has a lovely large, light bathroom with an electric shower over the bath and a glorious deep bath for soaking away aching muscles following walks.

Outside the front door you cross the access lane for the other houses on the terrace to Lund Cottage's enclosed garden. It's a lovely space to enjoy the peace and quiet over an alfresco dinner or glass of wine.

The cottage is lovely and very spacious with kitchen well equipped in all necessary items. It is located in cozy and quiet part of the village and it has good pub with just 5 min walking distance. Recommend this place to anyone who is looking to relax and reset with very pretty views from top window.

A comfortable property. A little tired looking in places and could do with some updating. Tucked away down a stone track and the parking space is a little tricky to get in and out of. A dishwasher would be good. Good base for the North Lakes.

A great location for exploring the lakes - we enjoyed walks at Ennerdale, Ambleside, Derwentwater, Whinlatter and Buttermere. We had fab weather which really made the holiday. A very comfortable cottage with everything we needed.

A lovely cottage but quite remote - so no handy shops - Cockermouth is the nearest. Washing machine would be great . Basic but adequate inside . Little welcome pack is nice -tea/coffee, milk and sugar. Relaxing and a good base for walking the northern fells and lakes. Mary

Had a wonderful stay at this cottage, which is in a lovely peaceful setting. Could benefit from easier to use cooker hobs, and a dishwasher would be handy, but overall we had a great time.

The cottage was delightful. We arrived soaking wet with two dogs in the middle of a thunderstorm so first impressions weren't great But once we had switched the lights and heating on (in July....) we could not have been more pleased and sat down for a deserving glass of wine. The cottage had everything you could possible want down to oven gloves anRead mored trays, etc. And the tea/coffee/biscuits were very welcoming. Would also like to mention The Countryman restaurant nearby. Excellent! Thank you Hide

Absolutely loved our break here. Originally booked in at another cottage in the south lakes but had to change last minute due to an issue at the one we had booked. Glad we didnt miss out. The north lakes are stunning, would recommend Ennerdale (10 mins away) and Buttermere (20mins). Lots of walks from the doorstep and the enclosed garden was perfecRead moret for our 2 double doodles. Inside was comfortable and spacious with a great dining area. We loved the log burner too! Hide

This cottage was a lovely find. The surrounding area was beautiful and great for dog walks. The cottage was so clean. With the log burner going in the evening we were so cosy. One of our best holidays as the cottage was a joy to return to each day.

We would happily come back to Lund cottage in the future as we have relatives who live within walking distance, but it was well suited for visits to tourist venues as well
