Welcome to this cosy end of terrace cottage for up to five people tucked down a country lane in peaceful Lamplugh. Boasting fresh decor and some beautiful traditional features including a wonderful wood burner it has two lovely bedrooms overlooking its garden and the fells beyond.
Set on the western edge of the Lake District National Park the area around Lamplugh offers some gloriously unspoiled countryside as well as easy access to the coast. There is so much to explore within a few miles' radius of the cottage from tranquil tarns and gentle river strolls to wonderfully picturesque lakes and mighty fells. The tranquil Ennerdale Valley, one of the Lake District's wildest valleys is just a few miles away. Its remote location and wonderful walking opportunities make it the perfect place to escape to even in high season. Or why not visit Loweswater and Crummock Water in the opposite direction? Two stunning lakes with a wealth of walks both gentle and more challenging and the promise of a lovely meal at the pub located between the two.
If you'd like to explore local town life you could head to Cockermouth, less than 8 miles away. This charming Georgian town was the birthplace of William Wordsworth and you can still visit his childhood home. Alternatively you might enjoy its great choice of independent shops and eateries. Heading west you could visit Whitehaven, a Georgian maritime town with a colourful history involving rum, sugar and piracy. You could even bring your bicycle and follow the Coast to Coast cycle route from the cottage to get there. Whichever side of this lovely area you choose to explore, this cottage makes a charming and welcoming jumping off point.
On arrival at the property you are greeted by the traditional stone floored dining room with a lovely heavy oak table and chairs and a decorative fireplace. The room makes a great place for planning your holiday adventures over leisurely dinners. To your right on entry is the cosy living room. Decorated with local prints and fresh light decor it benefits from two brown leather sofas on which to curl up around the beautiful wood burner. There is a Smart TV, as well as a choice of books in the dresser in the dining area. Beyond the dining room is the modern kitchen. It has a fan oven and electric hobs along with a fridge, microwave, caffetiere and sufficient crockery and utensils for your stay.
Moving through the traditional latched stair door you head up the curved staircase to the first floor. You first reach the master bedroom. This is a lovely spacious room with a double bed, wooden floors and a gorgeous view over the garden and nearby fells. It has a beautiful full length mirror, a chest of drawers and hanging hooks on the back of the door. The triple room has a single bed and sturdy bunkbeds. It's a lovely characterful room with a decorative fireplace, a wardrobe, chest of drawers and that dreamy view over the neigbouring cottage to the fells beyond.
This floor has a lovely large, light bathroom with an electric shower over the bath and a glorious deep bath for soaking away aching muscles following walks.
Outside the front door you cross the access lane for the other houses on the terrace to Lund Cottage's enclosed garden. It's a lovely space to enjoy the peace and quiet over an alfresco dinner or glass of wine.
