Loved the location, we came by train so it was good to be near facilities/shops but to then feel like we were somewhere rural. Had fun finding it in the dark! Take care to note instructions on finding the cottage. What3Words or OS map needed as Google maps doesn't even show the track up to the property.

Had a lovely stay at helm cottages surroundings were beautiful, will miss the fresh air and bird chorus first thing in morning. The cottages themselves were furnished with all our needs and a good location to visit the lakes from, would definitely go back.

Small but well equipped, lots of storage, heated towel rails and outdoor line good for drying wet gear. Perfect for two. Lovely setting and very relaxed feel but be prepared for a but of a steep walk back from town, if you are reasonably fit it is fine. Very enjoyable stay, Bowness is great!
