Soak up the peace and tranquillity at this rural holiday home for two, close to the shores of Coniston Water. Nearby days out include the picturesque village of Hawkshead (3 miles), where William Wordsworth attended school, and Beatrix Potter’s writing retreat at Hill Top (5 miles). At the end of the day, unwind in your romantic bolthole, snuggled in front of the wood burner or sipping a sundowner in your private hot tub.
The stone cottage has been impeccably decorated and furnished, with a monochrome colour scheme and contemporary furniture. At the heart of the home is a lounge/kitchen/diner, with an impressive, vaulted ceiling. Spend time here cooking delicious dinners for two in the chic kitchen area, sharing meals at the glossy breakfast bar, or reclining on the Chesterfield sofa to watch the Smart TV. The elegant, king-size bedroom boasts far-reaching views through its dual-aspect windows, and is the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. A separate bathroom completes the accommodation. French doors open from the living area to the garden, where you can dine alfresco or sip a glass of bubbly in the hot tub. Beyond the courtyard area is a large lawn – the ideal spot for a picnic lunch in the sunshine.
The village of Coniston is on the opposite side of the lake, about 1.5 miles away. Here you’ll find a good selection of eateries, cosy pubs, and independent shops. You can also hire rowing boats, paddleboards, and kayaks in the village to get out on the water. Alternatively, board the Coniston Launch or the Steam Yacht Gondola for a less energetic jaunt on the lake. There are some beautiful walks in the surrounding fells, including to the summit of the Old Man of Coniston, which offers panoramic views across the Lake District.
