  • Semi-detached cottage with a traditional cottage garden
  • Ideal location for enjoying a relaxing adults-only romantic retreat
  • Characterful cottage with thoughtful attention to detail throughout in a tranquil rural location in the Lake District’s peaceful Kentmere Valley
Property code: LCC49

Take a romantic trip with your partner to the stunning valley of Kentmere. This property is the ideal size for two people, and you can bring your dog, too! You’ll be surrounded by nature and history, so spend your days learning the legends of the nearby castles and your evenings getting some quality time reconnecting and enjoying each other’s company.

The ground floor is taken up by an open-plan living area, which includes a kitchen, lounge and diner in one convenient location. You can cook at the AGA and make hearty feasts or your partner’s favourite meals, then curl up in the comfortable seating with a good book or for a nice talk. When the night draws in, head upstairs where there’s a king-size bedroom. It’s decorated in a charming and eclectic style with furniture in mismatched harmony. You’ll have a gorgeous view from the bedroom window. The shower room and WC are adjacent to the bedroom. At the front of the cottage, there’s a nice garden with furniture, so on sunny days you can relax and get fresh air.

Kentmere is both a valley and a village, so there are some local amenities and a few people around. Most noticeable, though, are the mountains, including Tarn Crag (3.5 miles), which has a few different options for hikers. Take in the history with a trip to Sizergh, 11.5 miles away, a National Trust property and a 14th-century bulwark. Alternatively, Wray Castle is a neo-Gothic castle, 11 miles away, and often has seasonal events.

Very quiet corner of the Lake District yet only a few miles from Windermere. The cottage has an AGA in the living room - always cozy but a bit warm on hot days until you learn to open the right windows. Single track road and the last 20m are very narrow indeed. If you have a wider than average car, check with owner when booking.
