Grizedale Forest Visitor Centre (1.5 miles) offers plenty of cycling routes, a sculpture trail, a children’s play area and a Go Ape climbing centre. Carron Crag (2.5 miles) has splendid views of The Old Man of Coniston (9.5 miles). Also nearby are Tarn Hows, Wray Castle and Hawkshead (all within 7 miles).
