This characterful property is set amidst magnificent countryside and has a cheerful appearance on approach. You can't help but be charmed as you walk towards the front door, passing over the trickling stream and up the paved pathway through the well-kept cottage garden which evolves throughout the year. A parking area allows two cars convenient access to the property.
You enter the cottage through a stable door into the dining kitchen. While modest in size, it allows seating for four people at an attractive family table and the kitchen itself is well-equipped with everything you would need for your stay. Appliances include an integral fridge, counter-top freezer, electric fan oven, induction hob, washing machine and microwave. The stylish newly fitted kitchen with beautiful oak-effect worktops provides a warm welcome. There is plenty of storage for a small family, and the cupboards are well stocked with quality crockery, glassware and utensils. The room is lit with spotlights and downlights, adding to the natural daylight that comes in through the property's original and quirky barn windows.
Moving towards the back of the cottage the accommodation flows under the staircase towards a cosy lounge. This room is beautifully styled with simple decor, bright and fresh fabrics, deep and inviting sofa as well as an armchair. A flat-screen TV (with Freeview) and a lovely old multi-fuel stove complete the charming space. The room benefits from its dual aspect and lots of natural light. French doors lead you out into the enclosed rear garden making this a perfect place to sit and read a book, or simply enjoy the views of the cottage's immediate surroundings.
Back into the kitchen and the open staircase leads you up to the first floor where the unusual layout makes good use of the space. At the top of the stairs, you will find yourself in the first of the two double bedrooms, a beautiful spacious room decorated quite simply to give it a very calming feel. A floor-length window provides natural light and the chic white double bed, bedside tables and chest of drawers complete this classic look. Guests can also enjoy a flat-screen TV in both of the bedrooms.
Through thoughtful design, the landing and staircase have been kept open, allowing it a much lighter and more spacious feel than it would have otherwise had. Because of this layout, the master bedroom is open-plan, and access to the shower room and the second bedroom is via this space, directly at the top of the stairs. This layout would suit a small family, a couple, or friends who are happy to share the open-plan sleeping arrangement.
Venturing along the open landing you reach the second double bedroom. Flooded with daylight from the huge skylight window above, this room has the same relaxed and calm feel as the first. Simple, understated furnishings and decor enhance its spacious feel and a double bed, quality bedding and a combi wardrobe and drawer unit provide comfortable accommodation for a second couple or children.
The shower room can be found back along the short open landing at the top of the stairs and, although modest in size, it benefits from an electric shower, washbasin and toilet; it has a heated towel rail and plenty of natural light provided from the skylight above.
Returning to the ground floor and venturing out of the French doors from the lounge, you find yourself in a picture-postcard English country garden. Flower borders encircle the lawn, and a traditional Lakeland drystone wall encloses the space. A gate leads through the owner's garden towards their secluded little oasis, a piece of wooded land complete with a natural pond and access down to the beck. Guests are invited to enjoy the area during their stay; it's perfect for older children to explore and paddle, for families to picnic, or just as a peaceful spot to sit in the evening sun and enjoy a glass of wine.
A shelter for bikes can be provided by arrangement with the owners (a bike lock is required). The owners have also thoughtfully left a selection of books, children's games and visitor guides in the property for guests to enjoy. A starter kit is provided for the multi-fuel stove in the lounge with guidance on how best to keep it fueled.
