Directions

Please use these in addition to your Sat Nav to make sure you end up on the A5084 on the west side of Coniston Water. Using Sat Nav only some visitors have turned off the A5092 to early thus ending up on the East side of Coniston Water!

From M6 junction 36

Leave the M6 at junction 36.

Take the turn off for The Lakes and Barrow. Follow the signs for Barrow, A590.

After 20 to 25 miles (about a mile after you have passed large pub Rusland Pool on the right) the road narrows then widens again coming to a large roundabout. Take the right exit signed Workington, A5092. Keep on the A5092 until you see The Farmer’s Arms pub on the right. Very shortly after the Farmers Arms turn sharp right, signed Torver and Coniston A5084.

Check your mileage at this point and in exactly 3.7 miles you will see a wooden footpath sign and rectangular turning mirror on your left and a large copper beech tree on the right. Copper Beech Lodge is at the entrance to the drive opposite the turning mirror and next to the copper beech tree. If you pass Brown Howe public car park on your right you have just missed Copper Beech. If you get to the Land Rover garage you have gone 1 mile too far!

Turn into the drive and park either behind the end of the house or on the left next to the garden fence

There may be some lights and a radio on in the house – they are on security timers.

Additional details if you forget to check your milage at the start of the A5084 to Torver/ Coniston

Carry on the A5084 until you pass through Blawith and then Water Yeat

Shortly after Water Yeat you will go over a cattle grid. The road then winds and passes ‘Lake Bank’ on your left. Shortly after Lake Bank you will then see Coniston Water on your right (can’t see if dark) the road winds across a common then you will see a wall on your right enclosing a wood. Slow and start signal right, you will see a wooden footpath sign next to a rectangular turning mirror on your left. The entrance to the drive is on your right directly opposite the turning mirror.

If you pass Brown Howe public car park or a second cattle grid you have gone too far!
