The cottage is small, but well equipped; generous with cutlery and crockery, and comprehensive collection of kitchen tools. A few more serving dishes would be good. We bought, and left behind for others, a non slip mat for the shower, which otherwise is slippery, and there are no grab rails. The location is excellent for long walks from the door, and in late Spring/summer the flora on the nearest nature reserves are just stunning. We saw a couple of orchids which have escaped us before. The pizza man in the village [once per week] cooks great pizzas. Shops are a drive away, but most things can be had in Kirkby Stephen.

The directions to the cottage were incorrect, which if you don't know the area, or arrive in the dark might be confusing [ the turn is right not left!], and the information in the cottage about waste disposal and re cycling needs a major overhaul as it is incorrect/confusing.

Overall, however, a lovely place to stay. Very comfortable bed. Couldn't get TV to work [our lack of experience with complicated TVs, and insufficient information in the manual] but this didn't really matter.

Hi Dee, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, it's a lovely place for a relaxing break isn't it? The location is ideal for heading out exploring and the cottage is lovely and cosy to come home to after a day out discovering new places.
I really appreciate your feedback and suggestions for improvement, thank you. I'll make sure we look into everything you've highlighted. Until next time!

The cottage is very well maintained. It was very clean and had all the basic amenities for a few days of stay. It's of course best if you had a car as the small place has no grocers or any other shops of any kind. However it has two very good pubs, the Black Swan and Kings Head. The stay was very comfortable. The location is idle if you are looking for a few days completely being in nature and out of the usual touristy destinations of the Lake District. Great for going on long walks over the fells.
We had a lovely time
