- We have stayed at The Cobbles seversl times and loved it, but we were very disappointed to find that, with new owners, the cottage has become very basic without the homely touches that there were before, not even a rug in front of the sofa. The website still shows photos of the cottage as it was before it was sold, which is very misleading. Also the stairs are dangerous. There is no banister or grab rail to hold onto at the turn of the very steep and narrow stairs when entering or leaving the bedroom. I have pointed this out in the past but nothing has been done. Sooner or later someone is going to fall down them. Similarly, the step down from the bathroom to the bedroom is very high and there is need of a grab rail there, too. There are other minor problems, the kitchen tap is very loose, the old window blind needs remedial attention, there are inadequate storage facilities in bedroom and kitchen, the sink has no draining board, the runner in front of the fire, and a little mat in the kitchen are trip-hazards as the edges curl up, and the television stopped working. The best thing about the cottage is its lovely location, facing the neighbour's garden , in a village-like area close to all facilities. We have already booked another stay at the Cobbles, before our recent visit, but have decided that from then on we will choise other accommodation. We really loved the Cobbles on previous visits, and I am sorry to have to give this honest review, but it has now become less attractive and there is more comfortable accommodation elsewhere.
