This cottage provides very basic accommodation, perfect if you like to be outdoors all day walking the hills. The decor is very old, I noticed the carpets/curtains/cushions could do with a clean. Also the courtyard garden is tiny and shared with two other properties. The village of Lorton is very quiet, with a small shop selling basics and fairtrade produce and nice ice cream. I would definitely stay again.

Just needs a bit spent on it, carpets very old, tables and chairs can't be moved as they fall apart. Just throw away all cutlery, crockery and kitchen utensils and start again with fresh and new. Likely needs a new double bed very creecky. The cottage needs a little TLC and would be greatly improved. Despite the above we enjoyed our stay, but would not go back nor could recommend.

Cottage was comfortable & warm & in ideal position in quiet village in Lorton vale. We loved the area - great walks and wonderful fishmongers in Cockermouth! Local pub did not appear to be open at all during the week commencing 8 May which was disappointing - no update on their facebook page or on notices on site.
