This is a wonderful part of the world has all sorts of interesting walks and discoveries on your doorstep. Head towards Clough Head and then Helvellyn behind the terrace and you’ll get there by walking through an open-air museum of enormous mining machinery and a mineral railway. Or follow the interesting paths to the front of the house which take you through meadows to the river and beyond to Threlkeld. Your nearest pub is in Threlkeld village (a mile or so away), in fact there are two pubs - which serve good food and drink. The apartment is ideal for summer and winter mountaineers alike with local climbing walls and ice climbing on Blencathra.

Keswick is your nearest town, 4 miles away, and has a wealth of outdoor shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants, as well as a cinema and a theatre. The lake of Derwentwater is a 5-minute walk from the town centre and here you can hire rowing boats or take a trip on the launch. It takes 10 minutes to get to Keswick by car, or you can enjoy walks along the many footpaths and cycle routes following the river with plenty of picnic spots.

The property also has a second-floor room with additional beds (two singles) for parties of up to 6 people. Please get in touch on 01768 780571 if you would like to book this as there is a charge of £50 to use this second floor room.

The property is accessed from the rear door with the stairway leading straight ahead to the living area. At the bottom of the stairway is an area housing the washing machine and separate tumble dryer.

The living room has soft seating, TV, DVD player, dining table and chairs, and a wood burner effect electric fire set in a feature fireplace. The window from this room has spectacular views to the Glendermackin River valley and to Blencathra.

The master bedroom has a king-size bed and, Again, views to Blencathra. A baby cot and high chair, stored in this room, are available for use. Please bring your own bed linen for the cot. The second double bedroom has a king-size bed.

The kitchen on the same level is well-equipped with electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The view from the kitchen is of the fells at the rear.

The lovely family bathroom has a bath with shower over, WC and wash basin.

The second flight of stairs lead to the single bedroom with a further pull out bed to sleep a sixth person. This room is light and airy with velux window and views to the fells at the rear.

Although there is no garden as such, the small sheltered patio area has seating  - this patio area is shared with the flat below. A clean, comfortable and nicely-furnished cottage in a superb location. There are walks in every direction from the doorstep and the old railway line in to Keswick, which runs right past the property, provides a beautiful, four-mile off-road walk into Keswick on a Tarmac surface perfect for cycling, pushchairs and wheelchairs. My son-in-law, dog anRead mored I ventured no further than the Keswick basin throughout our four-night stay. Great pub dining also within walking distance. We hope to return. Hide

Really enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was ideal for four of us and well equipped. Lots of walks to do locally. Not far to walk over to the village coffee shop and pub (20 mins) across the fields. Keswick is very close for shops and supermarket.
