A very cosy cottage in a quiet part of the Lake District, perfect for a family trip with small children . Lots of outside space for them to play. Close to attractions in Windermere and a choice of short walks.

We are a family of four and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bridge House during the summer of 2019. The location worked well for us because we were looking for peace and quiet and though the property is more remote than most we found ourselves at a 20 minute drive from many of the amenities and services in the local area. Given how beautiful the scenery is the drive never bothered us in the least. From the inside the property is functionally appointed and everything works as intended however there was an issue with the Rayburn that may need some extended work to fix however we were able to use the provided electrical dual hob and the microwave for all our cooking needs. There is an electrical water heater for washing and bathing that works very well and the property has it's own water source. There are two bathrooms however only one has a bathtub. The entrance to the property is quite narrow but if you have a small hatchback it's pretty easy to get in and out of the very large parking. There is an additional house on the property (adjacent to Bridge House) that belongs to a family member however the occupants are extremely friendly and they were only there for a short while during our rental period of 20 days. If I was to give any constructive feedback I'd say that the property could use a slightly bigger fridge to accommodate the needs of a family and perhaps replacing the washing machine with a unit that dries clothes as well would be very useful. Other than that we feel that Bridge House is a real gem and are grateful to Sally's Cottages for the excellent service they provided throughout our stay.

Hi Nidal, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm so pleased you had a fab holiday. It's the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle for a while isn't it? And the location is stunning, I'm glad you enjoyed getting out exploring. I really appreciate your feedback and suggestions for improvement and will certainly look into it, thank you. I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

This cottage is beautiful in a traditional way. Our young boys loved the orchard and the fact a sheep kept visiting us. The nights were silent. It is very rural, yet easy to access the Newby Bridge and Windermere areas, which had more than enough excursions for our family. We ordered a Tesco delivery online shop for our arrival time for the bulk of basic items (as we arrived from abroad). It arrived on time and had no issue with the narrow lanes. We then topped up locally at farm shops as needed and there are some lovely pubs for food close by. We did encounter two significant issues on arrival but these were dealt with by the cleaner, owner and Sally's professionally. We were just unlucky I think.
